Its a personal opinion but why do people insist on sending, ad nauseum, (till youre sick) these cain emails that go along the lines of
"reply to this email and forward it to 100 people within 1 hour - someone somewhere told their uncle that a friend of their brothers girlfriend heard that someone sent it on and won the lottery!! - if you dont send it to AT LEAST 50 people youll catch leprosy next time you open an email and die a slow and lonely death"
I mean, really, what is the point?!? if you are so desperate for contact i put it to you that spamming that trite to everyone in your address book is very likley to result in even fewer friends willing to talk to you...
perhaps im just an old man that has no concept of whats hip and trendy... so hopefully someone can explain to me why on earth people persist in sending such tripe to everyone?

The ones that get on my nerves the worst are those that make you seem like a bad person for not sending them on. "I'll know who my true friends are by the ones I get back," or "I'm not ashamed of Jesus. Are you?" If you have to get some stupid chain letter back from me to know we're friends, then you're too stupid to be my friend. Consider this goodbye.

When my friends send me these, I delete them. Some people are superstitious and feel a strong need to comply with the content for fear of bad luck. I always tell people to send them if they have this problem. They end at my door. They're a pain in the behind and I just lurv binning them. Laugh

I have absolutely no idea. My theory is that it is some sort of ego trip to start one and think of how many people are going to be effected. I don't understand why people forward them. I hope it isn't to avoid the curses which go along with not sending them.

I would have agreed totally with you until recently. I received a book chain letter. It was really good. You just posted a book you'd already read to someone and sent the letter to some of your friends. Low and behold, you received books to read. A good means of swapping books.

Perhaps it's just for amsement. Sometimes it is pretty funny to read them and to see who actually reponds to it. Or it might be something that facinates people by sending chain mails all over the world. In my opnion I think people do it for amusement.

Chain mail is so annoying I don't read them, I delete them straight away. I have sent emails to all my friends telling me not to send me them but they never learn!
Some even send me chain mail in Arabic when I can't speak Arabic! Lol
I wish I could block chain mail and only recieve email thats important. Its so pointless and wastes my time!

The point in some of them is to make a point of how fast something can spread. However, most of them have no point other than to mess with people's minds.
