The story is an allegory, the only snake was of the male kind, that all men have as their personal pet.

This is Biblical version. Quran does not mention that Satan came as snake and offered the apple to tempt Eve. In fact Quran puts the blame both Adam and Eve for no obeying Gods orders and getting tempted by eating the forbidden fruit.

Good question!
What was there to be suspicious of at this point? Nothing evil had EVER happened. Also, who said that other animals did NOT talk? This is, admittedly, and argument from silence, but why not? Seems a bit strange, but then again, everything changed with the fall.

Who's to say that all animals didn't speak to her in their own way at the time? We already know that all animals speak their own language, why is it so hard to believe that at a time when man was more "pure" they could understand it? Today we think of animals as being lesser than humans, but the thought processes were quite different at the time. What if they had not conditioned their minds to block out the language of the world around them at the time? Remember, we've had eons of training telling us that animals don't speak. Eve had no such conditioning. Such a thing could have been perfectly normal to her.

Well, if one believes in the bible then there are a lot of things that would be considered suspicious in our modern time. But if Adam and Eve did exist, the rules of logic and reason werent really as concrete as they are now. So while she was probably confused, she wouldn't really have science to disprove it.

Why should she have been suspicious? She was like a child, everything was new to her. Is a child suspicious? Besides the serpent told her the truth. God told her she'd die on the day she ate the fruit -- the serpent told her that she would not die. The serpent was right. The only liar in the story was God.

Because Eve had not eaten of the fruit of the tree of knowledge... YET. Thank the Gods (and the snake) that she did.

Well if God walked around in the garden, I would not be shocked seeing a talking snake. A talking snake seems more plausible than God having a stroll in a garden.

I think all the animals either talked in the garden or Adam and Eve understood them.
