I'm looking for the price range of how much a 1983 Volkswagon Bus should cost. I looked on KellyBlueBook, but I didn't find it.

It has 110,000 miles, but 18,000 miles on a rebuilt engine. It also has a fridge, stove, and can sleep 4 people. It's in pretty decent condition.

DO NOT count on KBB.com to get a price on an 83 VW Vanagon Westfalia, which is what you own.

Look on eBay or Samba.com - these are some of the most desireable VWs ever made, and people pay top dollar for them.

Take a look yourself - they are anywhere from $5-15k

What it is worth may not reflect what people are willing to pay for it. The Blue Book won't even come close to the value of it since it seldom reflects collector cars accurately. To them a 66 fastback mustang is a 40 year old car.

My suggestion is to go to eBay, do a search for VW and BUS and then filter it for items costing more then $1,000. THEN look at the COMPLETED auctions. That will give you an idea of what the overall price range of the vehicle is. Be prepared to sit down. A fully restored safari (lots of windows) can run up to $23,k.

110,000 miles sounds REALLY low. 200 to 300 would be closer to what you would expect for a car with 25 years on it.

The engine is handy but it is very easy to pull and rebuild or replace the engines. So don't worry if the engine is not as good as it is represented.

hope this helps

if it is in good shape you may get as much as 7 to 8000 dollars for it. These vehicles are VERY desirable with certain people and they will pay well for them IF they are in good mechanical and cosmetic condition. i have an 85 which i am selling this summer for between 8 and 9000 dollars
