There's more vileness in the Bible. If they can stomach that fiction, they can handle any scary movie.

Jasmine,
The Passion of Christ was very worthwhile. It was as real as the death of Christ could be. I believe that this movie is a must-see for all Christians. You should watch it then make the decision. Many feel that the Roman Cross was not as horrible as it really was. This movie helps to dispel that myth. I do not watch the Scarry Movies but I do watch some sci-fi movies. There are a number of these movies that cause others to do things that they normally would nevber do and I agree that such movies should never be supported by us. Have a great week.
Thanks,
Eds

I used to love scary movies, but as i get older I'm becoming repelled by them ,especially as movies become more realistic and the gore more gastly and the themes more nihilistic.
I have not seen The Passion of the Christ, but many good Christian and non Christian friends have and have been positively moved. I have no real desire to see it actually since I can meditate on the Passion without the visual gore,IMHO

The Bible teaches we should guard our hearts from in purity, I would have to say no. I do think the passion of Christ was more accurate than many Crucifixion sense and would not consider it a horror movie as much as an historical account and if it can be used to save souls it is a worthy exception to the rule.

Amen to that. When you watch these movies you are participating in it.The violence, hatred and horrible evil is contrary to all God stand's for.I won't watch such movies. As followers of Jesus we stand for something other than ourselves. We are to be an example to the world,we represent Him.Some of the greatest movies ever made were Ben Hur&Ten Commandments by Cecile B.Demille they glorify God our creator.

If the scary movie stumbles a Christian into wrongdoing then scary movies should not be watched. For instance if you watch The Saw and then decide you want to slice up some people then you have a problem.

God said do not have dealings with any ungodly stuff. Fear is not of God. And any movie that promotes fear is not good for Christians. To be Truthfull I do like some scary movies, but I refuse to watch any that look evil or just too graphic.

If these Christians lived by the letter of the law that's in the Bible then of course they wouldn't view any of these movies. In fact if they were true Christians according to the Bible they should speak out against such things. But nowadays everyone is their own "brand" of Christian and they play by their own rules so it's probably not going to happen.

It is not fair to tell "Christians" what to do, as if they all believed the same thing. You do not want people telling you what or what not to watch, as is evident from your comments on "Passion of Christ." Fortunately, it is a free country, and you can watch the movie as much as you want. Whether or not another Christian chooses to watch these other films is up to the individual. What you think they should or shouldn't do is irrelevent.

I think they should watch as a form of awareness when it is influenced by the holy spirit..... I also think that any movie that dameans the God's character by having some quack as a manifestation of his will should be way out of the christian thought

I agree with you. That's my personal opinion. I used to read Stephen King...and started to realize that when I closed my eyes at night I thought of grizzly things. I stopped reading his books. I also don't watch too many scary movies...I do occasionally because my husband likes them.

But I am not that interested in them. I think there are much better things to fill our minds with.
