I don't know why people would consider putting themselves in danger "fun." I go for science personally. The word "experiment" literally means "ex peril." I think, considering scriptures like Proverbs 9:10-12, that's certainly in harmony with how God wants us to treat ourselves.

James 1:14 says that one is "drawn out" to epithumia. Epi- means "turning about." -thumia is derived from a word meaning sudden surges of anger or passion (like intoxication) that subside quickly. I thought I had anger, but the way that people behave in the movies has to be seen to be believed. This is what one is supposed to be avoiding. One is not, however, supposed to use hypnosis as a way of avoiding it. Hypnosis basically means social inducement to pass on the responsibility for moving things up the chain of responsibility onto somebody else. Somebody else will have to "observe" what you experienced (also related to "ex peril) before they do something about it. That's very selfish. Pray if there's nobody else around to tell, if you know of something wrong.

Fulfil, on the other hand, means "carry out" or "bring to realisation." Considering that "think" and "thank" are related words (they don't just sound similar), it might be a good idea to do everything possible to keep alert. This means preaching. (2 Timothy 4:5) This can be quite fun!

The 'fun stuff' usually gives you instant gratification. Instant gratification without self-discipline very often leads to an unhappy time in your life as you start to depend on the 'easy way' to make yourself feel good. You stop working on your long term happiness in favor of making yourself happy this moment in time.

Making it a sin is a heavy handed (but easy) way of dealing with the symptom of the problem. Instead of teaching WHY you shouldn't do something they just use the tied old excuse that parents use, 'Because I said so' (Because God said so).

Too much fun makes people forget that the earth is a miserable place and that we require God's salvation from this terrible existence. If we were 'allowed' to have fun all the time and remain positive about our earthly existence then our need for paradise would be null. It is funny how Terrorists are promised virgins in heaven, but not allowed to touch them on earth.

Fun stuff.

You mean fun, like being drunk?

You mean fun, like cheating on your spouse?

Tell the survivors of a child killed by a drunk driver that they were just having "fun".

Tell the children of a family destroyed by a cheating spouse that they were just having "fun".

It's a sin because innocent people suffer real damage as a result of "sin/fun".

Sin is really spelled SELFISH.

All the "fun stuff" is only a sin if you are a Christian. Other belief systems look upon "the fun stuff" differently. Nothing is unclean of itself. All things in balance.

Because the major religions want you to devote all your time and energy towards keeping the religion well-funded.

Premarital sex.

Out of love and respect for God and yoru spouse, and your own body, you're supposed to be a virgin until your wedding night. It saves you from having to explain to your mate that you were a tramp or womanizer and have every std known to mankind like much of Hollywoood.
Once you get married though do it til you pass out!

You may need to broaden yourself because all of the fun stuff is not a sin. It may be that the "fun stuff" that you are into is sinful.
