How could they have got it wrong for all these years? Either limbo is mentioned in the bible, in which case it is the word of your god, or they made it up. In that case, how do you know what else they did?

Anybody else subscribe to the view they are just changing things to stop losing more "customers", given that we are no longer medieval peasants whose life isn't ruled by superstition?

As far as I understand it, Limbo came from the mind of St Augustine. The Church never really officially taught that Limbo existed. Why they, then, allowed it to go on for so long is beyond me! I never really believed it myself. How would God deny himself to innocents who weren't baptized through no fault of their own? It doesn't jive with God as "all loving."

I do think it's about time that the Church realizes that many of us are at least as well educated as many of it's leaders, and some of us are more educated. We don't blindly follow what they say any longer. We use the intellect that God gave us to make up our minds and we use the Church as a guide.

Limbo was never a Catholic doctine and they did not confirm or deny this because it is such a delicate issue for those who have lost babies.

Its all silly to me. I grew up in the Catholic church and even as a child it all seemed a little weird.
