Sunday lunch. The best roast beef and mash potatoes ever. Although the veg always seemed to be really sloppy and I now like mine a little bit crunchy but when I was younger I loved them.

My great gran can cook anything better than anyone else especially fruit cake. I hate fruit cake but when she makes it i can't get enough! I go every Saturday for lunch and always go home stuffed. The older they are the better they cook!

My English Grandmother - gravy - my sister and I used to fight over who was going to take the gravy boat/ladle out to wash up so we could lick it out! (My father was Victorian and used to make us get up from the table and beg who ever had cooked the meal to be allowed to wash up - almost the minute we had finished the last mouthful of food! We were never allowed to sit and digest or talk or anything like that.)

My Latvian Grandmother cooked everything she ever did to perfection (I did not always like what she made when I was smaller, but I grew to like it.) Her best (for me, anyway) was St John's Cheese, (which my mother and I made last night) and anything with mushrooms, and of course her breakfasts with grapefruit and banana and honey and ......

My grandma made the best corn chowder! Make sure you have your grandma put her recipes on cards, in her own handwriting, and tuck them away. They will be very precious to you some day. (That is to you and others in answers who are lucky enough to still have your grandma) :o)

anything !
seriously she was an amazing cook, my grandad was a chef and her homemade food left him standing. i think it was all in the detail, she made amazing gravy and sauces.
home-made custard that finished deserts off perfectly.
whenever i cook anything i try to make it taste just like hers used to. think I'm almost there with the shepards pie.

Never knew three of my grandparents, they died young, & the remaining one was blind & deaf. Bad stuff!

My Mum made brilliant suet puddings though. No scales or measures, but unsurpassed by my generation!
