If a person says "If fried chicken gets banned from the United States people will riot in the streets" and people will be complaining that it is a racist remark. Now this has happened before where a person makes a remark and gives no implication of race, color, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, physical/mental disabilities but is still called prejudice, racist and bigot. Now who is the racist the one who made the remark or the ones who connected a group to it and calls the person racist?

If there is this much uncertainty of definition, it might be time to get out the old dictionary for a definition, and then stick to it. Unfortunately, there are those who "believe" (that would be an opinion), that some people can't be racist because they have been victims of racism. Duh~ anyone can be a racist, and anyone can be victimized, anyone can be bigoted, and everyone IS prejudiced about one thing or another ~ not necessarily something racial. I happen to be a lover of Southern Fried Chicken, which is a recipe containing directions on how to cook chicken a particular way. So what? Does that make me anything other than prejudiced toward Southern Fried Chicken rather than Coq au Vin? It doesn't make me anti-French. It is impossible to eliminate people's preferences by calling their favorites something other than what they are.
What you have described is a real stretch. Have you been talking to Rev. Al Sharpton, who would assume my love of Southern Fried Chicken comes from my heritage, instead of my mouth?

The world is getting too racially sensitive. What was once a good idea has been taken to the extreme where a group of people search out vague or nonexistent meanings in everyday actions and speech to slander members of a group they prejudicially feel are those that push such bigotry.
Unfortunately, this only paints them as the real racists while hoping to put that title on others. Ironic, isn't it?

Well, I'd strenuously object if they banned fried chicken, or other "ethnic food" such as tacos, pizza, etc., and I don't know many people in this country regardless of ethnicity who would stand still for such a ban. Food tastes span all ethnic groups, but nothing is more traditionally American than fried chicken. The chicken originated in India (so scientists think) but, as a worldwide food, has a far longer history than pizza. Trying to take away his fried chicken would have made George Washington mad.

I have always wondered why making jokes about fried chicken was racist.. where I am from we ate a LOT of fried chicken and made jokes about ourselves.. 'if Mrs.Smith forgets the fried chicken come Sunday (after Church) dinner.. no one will stay for services..' or 'them cookies are going as fast as a platter of fried chicken in a crowd of baptist preachers'.. we are/were white southern baptists. Nothing racist intended.

Being that I do not consider chicken an ethnic food, I don't know who would get offended. We need to be sensitive so we do not offend other cultures or races but if it is done in innocence I don't consider it a "racist" remark.

the person who connected a group to it because the person who stated the phrase probably hadn't intended for it to be perceived that way. the racist is the one that put it to a group, because he's the one who as the racy mind.
