I dropped my Kodak camera and cracked my LCD screen! Now I can't see any pics on it and I don't have a warranty, it's a 2 yr. old 4.0 Megapixel and I can't afford a new one yet?

Anything is repairable. The question should be... is it worth fixing?

Answer: Probably not, if you have to bring it to a camera shop. If you're like my brother, you'll buy another broken one with a different problem off of e-bay and use the parts to fix the camera.

If the camera still works without the LCD, keep taking pictures with it until you save enough $$ to get a new camera.

Think about it... before digital cameras came along, nobody could peek at their pictures until they had their film developed. You will survive!

It is possible to replace the screen and whatever else is broken in your camera. However, due to the way the pricing is done it is probably not very practical. For a little bit of money you will be able to get a brand-new camera.

However. Is the camera still take photos? If it is, then you can use the viewfinder and forgo the LCD altogether. Unless you need to constantly change some special features of the camera, it should be quite sufficient to just take the photos using the viewfinder and then edit them on your computer. (Kind of like it was done in the old film days).

Hope this helps,
-Ilya.

Hi

I have to agree with the other posters, your camera won't be viable to fix, it will cost around £120 ($240) to fix it, I know as I used to work in the camera industry and saw this type of damage frequently.

If you can use just the viewfinder and it still takes photos that way, that will probably be your best course of action.
Do you have house and contents insurance? If so you may be able to claim for it on that.

Good luck! :o)

The best thing to do is recycle it not worth fixing it or find a broken one that has a good lcd screen.
Swap parts and make 1 good camera.

Yes it is fixable but the real question is how much is it going to cost? My guess is that the cost of repair will be about as much as buying a new camera. (less than $90 at wal mart)
