Homemade tamales! I'm jealous. :-)
Homemade probably implies less preservatives, if that's a concern.
But, if the cook made them in a traditional manner, it's probably made with lard.
I think the homemade one's also taste a lot better too.
Health benefits: If they make you happy, that's a big benefit to your mind and body.
Happiness = less stress = lower stress related hormones in body.

There's a heck of a lot of lard in those if they're homemade! There's lard in the tortillas, lard in the masa, lard in the filling, you name it. Nutritionally, you get some good vitamins, but a whole lot of bad fat.
Ask you doc how many you can have per week to keep the blood pressure, fat, and cholesterol down and in check for the baby.
Good luck, and congrats!

i really don't know about health conditions, the chicken is good for you and the masa(outside) is done with corn flour. they should be good just be careful with the spices. enjoy them with alittle bit of spanish rice.have a nice glass of ice tea or maybe a glass of horchata(mexican rice drink)

healthy? as healthy as eating anything else home made if it's not lean protein & veggies! you're eating meat in bunch of corn type flour ... but they SURE are tasty! look at it this way ... it's not gonna kill you if you eat just a little bit. eat a couple, but i wouldn't do more than that. if you eat them every day ... you'll gain weight, even if you're pregnant or not.

It's lean protein which is really good for you, especially when you're pregnant. There's not a lot of fat and they also taste really good! go for it!!
