My dear cousin was visiting this weekend, and after he left, we noticed that "someone" had flipped over the toilet paper rolls in two bathrooms so that the paper was under, rather than over.

When I discovered the situation in the main downstairs restroom, I figured my husband or I hadn't paid attention, because we've always been partial to the "over the top" strategy. But when I saw it in the guest restroom as well, I realized that my cousin must have felt strongly about this, and flipped them both over!

So what do you think - is there a "correct" way to place the toilet paper roll, and if so, which way is it and why? And secondly, do you feel strongly enough about this that you'd go to the trouble of "correcting" it if you saw it the "wrong" way in someone else's home?

Actually, the proper way is over, with the flap v folded. If you have ever been in a fancy hotel, or high class house with servants, you would know that.

Its never classy to pull from under, only to roll off from over.

And you answered one of my questions "Why can't I be as insightful and profound". This is clearly one of the questions that defines the human race. Over or Under?

Okay, I have to come clean, I have never even considered it until now. I guess put it in whichever way the roll ends up in my hand. But I'm a slacker at heart.

Your cousin seems a little weird. And I would never presume to correct my hosts living arrangements in any way (also because I am, as stated, a slacker).

Over. I used to think under. Then I put new wallpaper up. I realized with the paper going under that you are more likely to touch your hand against the wall. Lots of dirt on my new wallpaper, not to mention germs of all sorts. Now I'm an over person. I never correct it at someone else's home but if someone else puts mine in the wrong way, I change it.

I think its just a personal preference. I prefer it be over. If I saw it the other way in someones home I would not correct it, firstly because I wouldn't care that much and secondly because its their home and they probably put it on how they prefer it to be.

I prefer over the top. I think the tissue is easier to get hold of. It keep fingers off the wall and just looks neater. No, I wouldn't go changing it i someone else's home

The correct way is OVER. However, if I was a guest and someone had it under, I would never dream of changing it.

It seems to roll off better "over". I do not feel strongly enough to make an issue out of it or to change it at someone else's house.

The correct way is under. I actually HAVE changed it in someone else's home when I was younger, but now I'm older and have children, and that gives me more important things to be OCD about! :-)

It's over........ you wouldn't want the toilet paper lying up against the wall. And yes, I do go through great lenghts to change it,if it needs corrected, your home or mine.
