I'm filling out a form on Microsoft Word and I'm having trouble. Theres spaces for you to type in information and a border. The problem is that whenever i try to print it, a little message comes up that says "The page borders of section 1 are set outside the printable area of the page. Do you want to continue?"

I need to know how I can fix this and make it so the borders are a bit higher on the bottom section. Any help would be appriciated.

First, put your document in "print preview" mode by clicking the print preview button on the toolbar.

When in print preview, at the left side of the print preview toolbar, there is a button which appears to be lit - it is the "magnifier" button. Click it. This will allow you to make changes to the document and see the results immediately.

Now, it's time to play. Are you using headers and/or footers? If not, go to File, Page setup. Click the margins tab. set the "from edge" measurement to 0.

See if you can have 1" margins all around -- will your text fit on one page. If so, click Format, Borders and Shading, Page Border.

Select a style, then click on the box.
If the border does not include all the text, go back to Format, Borders and Shading, Page Border, and click Options.
Where it says "measure from" - click the down arrow and select "text."
If you do not have a header or footer, click o.k., o.k.
If you do have a header or footer, click in the boxes to clear "surround header," "surround footer."

Just requires a little trial and error.

When you have it the way you want it, close the print preview by clicking "close" on the print preview toolbar.

Click on the print preview button and if it looks ok, you can click yes to the message to print it anyway.

If you do need to alter it - You can change the margins in page setup (From the File option on the toolbar), but I find it easier on the print preview -

Make sure Ruler option is selected (From the View option on the toolbar)

On the ruler - Hover over the page edges (where is goes from white to grey), then click and drag the margin up or down until you can fit the work on the page.

Hope this works.

You can set your own borders by going to File>Page Setup. You can set your preferred margins for that particular document. I do it all the time. Don't forget to click on OK.

File > Page Setup - alter margins and check in File > Print Preview to see what you'll get.
