Starving yourself in this way is really not the best way to lose weight and you're likely to start noticing some side effects pretty soon.

To start with, losing weight too quickly can often be counter-productive. This is because your body equates dieting with starvation and responds in several ways.

It slows down your metabolism and burns muscle, which is responsible for most of the calories you burn each day. In this way your body conserves energy and protects its body fat reserves.

The lower the calories and the longer the period of starvation, the more pronounced the starvation response. Also, the more frequently you diet, the more quickly this starvation response kicks in and the less weight you end up losing.

Whatsmore, when you finish your weight loss program your body tries to replace the fat it's lost to guard against any
future period of starvation.

The safe rate of weight loss is around 1-2 lbs a week. The more slowly you lose the weight, the less likely it is to go back on again once you go back to eating normally.

Besides, rapid weight loss plans - or just not eating for a few days - really only result in water and not significant fat loss. Start eating again and the weight goes straight back on again.

There's no secret to weight loss and the best advice bears repeating - the most effective way to lose weight and keep it off is a combination of diet and regular exercise.

If the body doesn't get water for 4-5 days you will be on the brink of death if you're lucky but most likely you'll be dead. I am assuming that you mean you won't be drinking anything except for water. As for eating it's pretty much straight forward...you'll be very hungry, you will lose weight, and you will gain a good chunk of it back in water weight once you begin eating again. If you're not fasting for cleansing or religious purposes this is not the ideal way to lose weight. Believe it or not diet and exercise is all you need. Keep a journal of all of your calories that you eat throughout the day. Make sure that it doesn't go anything over 1200 until you reach your ideal weight. Foods to eat:Lean meats like canned tuna( a mere 100 calories per can),Rotisserie chicken, Tolapia. Fruits and veggies like apples (Usually around 80-100 calories per apple), Broccoli (It actually takes more calories to digest brocolli than is in the broccoli itself), Carrots, Cans of Veg-all etc.

Well this means you aren't getting any nutrients that your body needs and you could be putting strain on your heart.

Most likely you won't lose much weight. Your body is genetically programmed to think there is a famine and there is no food available so it goes into survival mode. It is that whole Darwin thing and survival of the fittest. Your body thinks you are starving so it will lower your base metabolism rate in order to conserve as much energy (stored fat) as possible.

Your body does this because it thinks you will die if it doesn't.

You may have a temporary weight loss, but once you eat your body will pack it all back on because it will wonder if it won't be getting any food for days again.

It is acceptable to fast for a couple days, but even then you should be supplementing liquids with nutrients that your body needs.

Food is the fuel for your bodies engine. If you don't give yourself fuel, the engine will shut down.

Nobody here can say for sure whether or not something bad will happen, but what you've been doing is not a good idea. Your body MUST have certain vitamins and minerals, and if it doesn't get them "bad things" could happen. Yes, you have almost certainly lost weight but this is not a healthy way to do it. Go have a healthy, balanced meal NOW, and if you want to diet, seek the advice of a physician.

Start eating immediately. Start with a little and then work up to normal. THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT! Any weight you lose like this is artificially lost and will come back later. You will become ill if you do not eat.

Why not try to just reduce your portion size and to eat more slowly, put your fork down between bites. You will lose weight in this way especially if you eat a healthy diet and keep drinking water. Also take some exercise. Start Eating!!

Yes you will, because your not eating anything, but if you want to lose weight this is no way to do it.

If you want to lose weight the best way to do it is eating 6 small meals a day, cutting back on sweets, no food after 6:00
and exercise. I know this works because I did this for 3 months and lost 40 pounds.

So good luck, hope this works for you.

though there may not be any symptoms of anything wrong going on it is not healthy to not eat. your body needs nutrients daily to survive and for your organs to function properly. eventually after a long time of not eating the body will start to eat its own muscle to survive. this is not a good situation.
please for your health talk to a dr. about healthy weight loss solutions, including a healthy diet and exercise.

just my opinion. i hope this helps.

I don't know what's going on, but please, eat something...

When you go into fast, when your body wants reserves to use it will actually use the muscles in your body before the fat reserves. It's a defense mechanism. If you want to lose weight PROPERLY, eat moderately and exercise - this will use the fat reserves while keeping your muscles in shape, and your body won't want to hold onto every fat reserve possible.

Besides, now you've had no vitamins or minerals to eat for four days!

Believe me, you will hurt yourself if this keeps up!

that is dumb, starving your self slows down your metabolism, so the next time you eat, you will gain alot more weight than you normally would. eat 3 small meals a day, very small, breakfast, a few crackers with peanut butter, lunch, a peanut butter and jelly sandwitch, dinner, grilled chicken and green beans

not a good way to lose weight. it will just come on when you start eating again. if you want to lose weight you have to stagger your diets, so one day eat more and the next day eat less. once you continue start eating less, your body slows its metabolism down so your body will not burn as many calories on its own. eat healthy foods and you will see more weight loss than not eating at all.

As for anything bad happening. Not eating will slow and hinder your performance in the workplace, school, wherever else. It slows down pretty much everything in your body.
