I am hosting a bridal shower and I am not sure when to have it. My bridal shower was 3 weeks before my wedding and I felt like it was a little too close. But I don't want to have it too far in advance either. Suggestions?

mine were all around 6 weeks ahead of time, and I thought it was perfect. Gave me plenty of time to do thank you notes and get things moved in, go for about 6 weeks to 2 months and you'll be great!

I had 2. One was in March 25 (my wedding was June 24) which was a tad bit early but his aunt (who was throwing the shower) was going to be gone mid-April to late-May to Europe. And like you I thought 2-3 weeks before the wedding was too soon. So that knocked out a lot of weekends that could be possible.

The other was the May 13. We had a difficult time with showers since so much was going on--Memorial day, Mothers day, graduations. The May shower was when we took the bridesmaids dresses for their fittings. That was perfect--everyone could make it, the bridesmaids could all make it to get the dress fit, it was beautiful and warm. Close to the wedding date.

So you have to take all that into consideration as well with other activities people have going on. Especially if you get married in very busy times like May-June or December. I mean there will never be a w/e that everyone can make it, but at least if you ask grandparents, aunts and close family you'll end up knocking out more dates than you think.

Anytime 6-12 weeks before the wedding is a great time--close enough for you to have the excitement. Far enough out that you can get all your thankyou notes written and sent out before you get pre-wedding hectic.

I'm having mine 3 months before the wedding. Some people may say that's too far out, but the following months are filled with Birthday's, the Bachelor and Bachelorette parties, and all the *many* final details in planning the wedding.

One to two months in advance is the usual time. Less than a month might make it more stressful. However, it also needs to be a time which fits everyones schedule.

No closer than a month before the wedding.
