I've met some really good liars who can look you right in the eye while lying, but somehow I can always tell. May just be that my unconscious mind is a better observer than my conscious mind. Or, at least that sounds like a reasonable explanation to me.

It may be true that grass is green but that's not The Truth. The Truth can't be told, it can be pointed to. The truth is within, once found within one sees it every where.

If you're someone who consistently tells the truth, you can tell when someone else is.
It "takes one to know one".
(Body language, an understanding of a person's character & habits, etc - help).

I can spot a liar head on, but I have to see the person. For me, I can tell because, they never look into my eyes and swallow a lot. My husband tells me Everything and sometimes, I wish I were more oblivious.

You can only attempt to verify it through other sources. That is why relying on a single source for an entire belief system is very dangerous. Good examples of this include the bible and the Koran.
