Anyone here of this religion. I dont understand it at all. I hear that they think there are like 400,000 souls going to heaven. Well then, isnt it full? Why make it your duty to recruit newbies? And if not, are you competeing with those who believe the same way you do? I would love to hear from someone who could enlighten me. Thanks!

Also. How come there is no celebrating birthdays and such? And where does Jesus fit into your views?

Hi, I'm a Jehovah's Witness.
And it's 144,000 - in Revelation 14:1-5 shows that 144,000 have the heavenly hope.
"The upright are the ones that will reside in the earth, and the blameless are the ones that will be left over in it. As regards the wicked, they will be cut off from the very earth; and as for the treacherous, they will be torn away from it."—Proverbs 2:21, 22.
So who is going to live on earth? The Great Crowd which no man was able to number. So the Great crowd who have the earthly hope are not limited to any number like those who have the heavenly hope.
The ones with the heavenly hope will not just play harps and skip about. They will be co-rulers with Christ in his Kingdom. So they have jobs.
For more info, check out the links in source.
Hope this answered your question some.
*Birthdays - the only 2 references of the celebrating of birthdays in the bible are by two people who did not even worship God. They worshipped false gods. And Jesus did not tell his followers to celebrate such times, he told us to commemorate his death, and that's what we celebrate.
The origin of holidays is pagan. I'm not saying that just because a Watchtower said it, but because all link back to pagan origins. And God wants his followers to stay away from worshipping false gods in any way.
*Jesus - Jesus is the Son of God. He came to the earth to minister and to leave a model for us to follow. He died so that mankind can have the hope of living eternally on earth in a paradise like originally intended. - John 3:16

in revelation it tells you even in the king james bible that 144,000 are going to heaven. it also talks about the meek shall inherit the earth. Jehovah did not change his mind. no it will not be like the earth is today. it will be like a paradise that Adam and Eve lost. remember when you say the Lord's prayer. as it is in heaven it will be on earth. remember Jesus Christ threw the devil out of heaven and he cleaned the heavens by doing this. he is down here causing all the trouble. as far as the holidays the only holiday we celebrate is Jesus Christ memorial which he died on Nisan 14 the last supper or the passover. this year it was on April 2 all around the world in 236 lands we celebrated his death. since Jesus commanded us to celebrate it and since passover is once a year that is when we celebrate it. we also celebrate wedding anniversary. we do have parties during the year and give gifts to each other. if you want to learn more about us visit a kingdom hall or our website at www.watchtower.org

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and we appreciate the chance to explain our Bible based beliefs.
To how many does the Bible hold out hope of heavenly life?
Luke 12:32: “Have no fear, little flock, because your Father has approved of giving you the kingdom.”
Rev. 14:1-3: “I saw, and, look! the Lamb [Jesus Christ] standing upon the Mount Zion [in heaven; see Hebrews 12:22-24], and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads. . . . And they are singing as if a new song . . . and no one was able to master that song but the hundred and forty-four thousand, who have been bought from the earth.”
According to the bible, only 144,000 are going to heaven.
To answer your 'recruiting' question...Matthew 28:19,20 states Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”
So we are obeying Jesus command to preach this good news (Matthew 24:14) of the Kingdom. I urge you to visit www.watchtower.org (our official website). There you can search our beliefs and request additional info. hope this helps.

Jehovah's Witnesses, what do they believe.
http://www.watchtower.org/e/jt/index.htm
This is a link to our main web site that will help you learn about Jehovah's Witnesses.
My Wife and I have been Jehovah's Witnesses since August 1996. We requested a free home bible study because we were interested and wanted to find out more about them. We heard all these weird things about them until we studied with them and learned that alot of the things we heard were lies.
Lies spoken by people that don't really know about Jehovah's Witnesses. So please enjoy the site. Have a nice day.

The book of Revelation gives the number of those who will go to heaven as 144,000 (see chapter 14 for one).
Those who go to heaven will rule as kings and priests over the earth.
Theremainder of "saved" mankind will inherit life in paradise on earth. The earth will be restored to the original paradise conditions that Gog originally intended when he created Adam and Eve.
The wicked will be "cut off" from the earth or destroyed. (see Psalms chapter 37)
So - no we are not in competition with anyone, the majority of JWs alive on earth today believe that they will have everlasting life on earth... not in heaven.

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians. The preaching work is performed because Jesus commanded it, not because it benefits Jehovah's Witnesses personally or as a religion. The bible teaches that 144,000 will be resurrected to heaven, and Jehovah's Witnesses expect that many thousands of the 144,000 have never set foot in a Kingdom Hall or read 'The Watchtower'.
The fact is that the vast majority of Witnesses hope to enjoy life ON EARTH forever, rather than in heaven. Jehovah's Witnesses understand heaven to refer to the dwelling place of spirit creatures such as Jesus and the angels. They understand the Scriptures to teach that exactly 144,000 humans will join Christ Jesus as kings and priests to administer God's Kingdom (which will soon replace all earthly governments).
(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite
(Revelation 14:1) Lamb [Jesus] standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand
(Revelation 20:6) they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and will rule as kings with him
The men and women who make up the 144,000 are selected by God from among two thousand years of Christians. Over whom will they rule? Over the vast majority of mankind, most of whom will have been raised from the dead after Armageddon.
(John 11:23,24) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
Hell is NOT someplace/something mankind needs to fear; there is no suffering in the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire
Almighty Jehovah God selects those few who have the heavenly calling. Each person "feels" his own hope and each person's hope remains unquestioned by his fellow Christians. Still the vast majority (literally more than 99.9%*) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an EARTHLY hope, the same hope given to Adam and Eve.
(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill THE EARTH and subdue it [caps added]
(Genesis 2:17) You must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die [so never eating from that tree means never dying]

GOD always has a open door for u to enter to a place where u can stay with him.His house isnt full that he cant let u in or wants u to stay outside.GOD would take u into his kingdom with open doors. The bible talks about 144000 which will be used to preach the gospel after the rapure. But every christian who recieves JESUS as there LORD and saviour is on his way to heaven and has brought the ticket for a life long never ending to stay in GOD home. Here is how to get that ticket.
"For GOD so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoso ever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life".Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with his blood.
