I have been driving for ten years and this is my first offense so, a lot of you can bugger off. I'll plead guilty and ask for a lighter judgement. I wasn't drunk, I'm not blind. I was simply trying to get back to work before my lunch break was over.

You were drunk, and didn't realize how fast you were going because you couldn't focus in on the speedometer, or you're blind, and you left your seeing eye dog at home.

Chances are you were speeding and knew you were speeding. If that is the case say guilty and apologize and pay the fine. If for some reason, you didn't realize you were speeding (ie. broken speedometer or inaccurate speedometer) then you need to get a mechanical repair order stating the nature of the defect and how the defect was corrected and submit that as mitigating evidence, while still admitting that you were speeding. Now for real life, most jurisdictions if the officer doesn't make the court appearance the judge will dismiss, this happens alot. If the ticket has errors such as not your correct name or driver license number, some judges will dismiss on a technicality. Some times, if the officer can't certify the calibration of the radar detector the judge could dismiss. All those possibilities, but the fact is municipal court will probably believe the cop, regardless of what you bring up...again, if you're guilty, say so and get on with your life.

Your best bet is to plead guilty and explain to the judge that you didn't realize you were going that fast but that you accept responsibility for your actions. If you have an otherwise good driving record, ask the judge for leniency. Judges will not accept excuses for breaking the law -- you can explain what you did but if you don't own up to it or if you treat it like it's no big deal the judge is going to HAMMER you. Be respectful, be responsible, and chances are the judge will give you a break on the ticket.

You mean an excuse to use for the reason why you were speeding? I don't normally argue about it. I simply call my attorney and in the county where i live...my attorney uses "improper equipment" everytime! My driving record is clean because of this. I don't know what happens to my speeding my citation but whatever my attorney does to make it "disappear"...I am happy.

An ounce of prevention is worth a couple of hundred bucks.
Have you tried not speeding? Do the math and figure out how much time you actually save by speeding. 10 seconds? 30 seconds?
Then ask yourself if it's really worth it.

If your a man try a funny excuse or if a smooth talker give a reasonable excuse might let you go. If you are a woman try to admit to it and show some sexuality towards the cop which then he will let you go.

Just say that you are the worst driver on the planet and the least amount of time you spend on the road the safer it is for everybody.
