You have to be pretty ignorant of world history to think that.

I see there are more than a few jerks answering questions today.
I understand where you're going with this question, but it takes more than a belief in God. Remember - Satan believes in God and hates Him and everything He loves.
I believe it takes a change of heart. How do you change society? You have to change men's thinking. How do you change the way a man thinks? You have to change his heart. How do you change his heart? You can't - God has to. And, in order to do that, man has to be submissive to God. It takes a relationship with Christ.
As you can see by some of the answers given here today, many people are not, will not and probably never will be open nor submissive to God.
As such, we have to be as close to being Christ right here & right now as we can be.
I also find it interesting that most of the venom spewed forth here is from non-Christians. Hmm.
Can you say "hypocrite"?
God bless.

Weird, over 80% of America claims to believe in God and more than half of those believe in hell. So your statement here doesn't really support the idea that if people just believed, they wouldn't do bad things.... It's quite the opposite actually... the more a person adheres to their religion (Pat Robertson, Bush, Ted Haggard)... the less they seem to follow their religion, coming up with excuses as to why they are allowed to be a certain way, but no one else should.
Us Non-Christians aren't even 10% of America. And that's lumping in Pagans/Wiccans, Atheists and Agnostics all together (which they shouldn't be, we Pagans have beliefs but of course, Atheists do not).
Have you died? did you go to hell or heaven? If not, then you are merely speculating and it appears to be more of a "fear tactic" than anything... and it certainly won't be appreciated that you push your opinion forward as fact without offering any kind of proof outside of one book.

More wars have been fought in the name of God than everything else in history put together. Belief in God does not mean less killing.

And how does this explain the crusades, the elimination of women accused of withcraft, the burning of heretics, the Spanish Inquisition, the pogroms against the Jews...?
Seems to me people are quite willing to kill so as to impress God with their love of Him.

Really? Seems to be a lot of killing in your god's name. A lot.
This post is foul, and I suspect that you are as well.
