Broad ripple and anything north side is fashionable and hence expensive but there are some good deals to be found in the Castleton area. Southside also has some pretty good neighborhoods. Avoid the East Side at all costs. Even though crime happens anywhere in any large city, where Indy is concerned, the East Side is heavy in that regard. Don't even bother with it. Public Transportation in Indy is not the best, mind you. Get a car.

For That kind of price range you will want to look at the Near North East Side. The area south of Castleton to Lawrence has some nice apartments in your price range. Look at places between 79th and 52nd street around 465. There are plenty to choose from and they are close to the interstate so you can make it downtown easily. The bus system SUCKS.

Broad Ripple is better for younger people, but it will be harder to find a nice place in your price range. You can check out indyforrent.com and rentalindy.com for some rooms and houses for rent. Mainly just stay away from the near east side. It is really bad.

All the apartments and housing around IUPUI is kind of pricey. You would probably have to go to Broad Ripple for a decently price place.

forget the north edge... And forget Broadripple till you merely became 21 and are merely getting a flavor of the club scene. flow to Greenwood, that's on the south edge. There you will come across good value studio residences like Valle Vista Armes, and Clearview. i've got lived in Clearview and have had acquaintances that lived in Valle Vista. additionally Honey Creek on a hundred thirty five isn't undesirable. stay faraway from Westminster (undesirable crime). Greenwood has maximum of what human beings choose. a lot of figuring out to purchase, quite a few bars (2 of that are sturdy), an innumerable quantity of restuarants, friendly human beings, and its lots greater value-effective to stay than the north edge. do no longer permit those human beings permit you recognize that the north edge is the only place to stay. they're often snobbish and not as friendly. additionally Greenwood is like 15 minutes from downtown, and has a lots decrease crime value than the east or west factors that would desire to be prevented. you will rejoice with Indy in case you like activities, great eating, and Bars. Thats why I enjoyed residing there for twenty-four years

Your price range IS pretty low, even for Indy, but you definitely can find something in a good neighborhood, it just may take some searching and time. Mass Ave. area and Fountain Square (south of the city) are both really great areas where you might just luck out and find a small place in that range!

the east side isnt all that bad. i suggest you take short term housing first. then discover where you want to live. there are some hud out in cumberlin that werent all that bad. i lived there about 10 years ago. you might want to get a house on the east side with a good alarm system in it. living in a home cuts down on crime period. i have alarms on my doors, windows nice "friendly" dog. i am also ex military too. so i dont have a fear of handguns. no matter where you live there is crime. even in carmel

What do you and only you consider to be reasonably priced? Give a range such as $500-700/month. Are you wanting a 1br or a 2br?

broad ripple is over priced. South side or west side would be your best chance at somewhere cheap, stay away from the eastside even though it is cheap
