The Christians. They have more gas to burn.

The Christian would not be in hell. That does not, however, mean they would not be judged for what they did. All people will be judged.

It sounds all very nice and simple that there is an atheist who lived a peaceful life. The problem is that that atheist would have sinned at least once in their life. God is just and all sinners must pay the penalty for their sins, which is eternal separation from God. However, God removed this penalty by, ironically allowing a great act of injustice, the punishment of his Son (who is also God) for those sins. This is the only time two wrongs make a right: the only way to make Jesus's death just and okay is if people believe in Him. Those of us who do have accepted that justice has been done. Atheists reject this and say effectively that they will carry the punishment for their sins themselves.

Worse though is the fact that most people are not actually that nice. Look around at the world. The standard for "nice" for God is much higher than for what most people set. Even if that atheist met most of those standards (no human being ever meets those standards, not even Christians), they would tacitly be teaching people to reject Jesus Christ. Most people will end up having a lot of blood on their hands as they go through their lives because they think they are nice, good people. If they knew Jesus Christ, He would show them just how many murderous things they do almost every day. They would start paying a lot more attention and would fight to stop starvation, homelessness, poverty, discrimination and so many other terrible things.

If most Americans were Christian, there would never have been an invasion of Iraq. There would not be discrimination against gay people, the poor, black people and all sorts of other groups of people. There would not be so much greed and inequality. Most Americans, unfortunately, are religious and then say they are Christian. Most Americans who call themselves Christian are on their way to hell.

With hell, its all bad! Once you are there, you are there forever, and it is painful.

Both of the people would have the same fate. Since hell is an eternal state, once you are in hell you are there forever, there is no redemption once you are there. Also, the reason that hell is so horrible is because God is not there, there is a total absense of all Love. There is no peace and no comfort - ever! So anyone in hell, no matter the reason they went there, would all suffer the same fate - eternity without God, who is Love itself.

This is why we must always try to live our lives rightly, justly, and with love of other people and God, so that we can spend eternity in Peace and Love.

God Bless!

First of all hell is no picnic for anyone good or bad. Secondly admission to heaven is on basis of forgiveness not behavior. So the atrocious person who is forgiven won’t even end up in hell, while the supposedly good person who isn’t will.

Hmmm. Well I'm sure that's a deeply theoretical question with many answers and different opinions, but I would have to say NEITHER BECAUSE HELL DOESN'T EXIST.
However, if it did (hypothetically of course) then I would say the Christian.
Your question strikes me as rather offensive. ;-)

The former (and if he really did those things, then I would think he would be a Christian in name only), because he said he would follow God but didn't, whereas the latter was closer to doing the things God said to do, even if he said he wouldn't do them.
