I have the impression that Prozac, far from helping with mood swings, desensibilizes people and can cause slight paranoia. However, I would like to know the opinion of long-term users.

I have been on Prozac for 10-12 yrs. During the winter months I have Seasonal Disorder but no paranoia other problems . Other than the usual slight swings depending on the seasons. There is alot of weight gain on some of the others.I have tried others but because of there side effects I begged to return to Prozac.... but again this me I am 54yrs. old Any other questions I can answer . Prozac does (pooop out) but usually they adjust it .It has helped me the most of any .It does give you energy thats why you take it in the morning. Like I said its the best I've been on.

I have never heard anything about Prozac causing paranoia, it can, at first, increase chances of suicide however. Overall, I have, as a long term user, had a positive experience with Prozac.

I used it for just over a year which isn't hugely long term but I thought that I would share my experience with it. I didn't actually have much effect at all from prozac. They kept increasing my dose until I was on the adult maximum (this was when I was 15) and then I ended up getting changed to other ones until the found one that actually worked. I know some people who have the numb feeling that you have described but I was feeling this anyway so as far as I was concerned, it didn't touch me.

I use Prozac, I've been on it for over a year now. It doesn't cause any kind of paranoia for me. I have trouble with depression & it has helped me to feel like I want to be up & doing things again. It takes away the hopeless & bad feelings for me & makes me see things in a more positive way.

I have been on Prozac for 3 years now and I like it better then Paxil. I have found that Prozac has less of a sexual side affects for me and I don't feel as tired.
