Call me crazy, I'm no Dr. but I definately smelled the same odor within a couple of weeks of being diagnosed that I had also smelled when around my sister who dies from it 10 yrs. ago. Whatever it was, it was very distinct & have never smelled it any other time.

I don't know that I would use the term "smell," but I do believe that people can sense when other people are sick.
We are all intuitive creatures by nature, and no matter what science or belief system that you subscribe to, there is no denying that our abilities as human beings extend far beyond what our 5 senses can tell us.
However, that being said, there is a very down to earth reason why it is possible to actually smell if someone is sick, and that is because there are many factors than can contribute to an actual odor that is generated as a result of someone's biological processes.

I don't believe anyone can "smell" cancer. However some people have a very keen sense of energy, both positive and negative, and could very well sense the presence of a destructive energy, which is what cancer is. I suppose the sense of smell could be part of the perception in that overall awareness. My wife has the ability to see a persons energy field, but generally describes ones energy field as expansive or restricted, not as to a specific type.

Yes and No.... Cancer itself i dont believe has an odour, however, it can cause other things to have odours, such if they have a wound (ulcer, etc), it has an odour to it. You cant walk by or up to someone, and say "you smell like you have cancer", however, other aspects may have unusual odours which may be linked with having the cancer.

No, I don't think cancer gives off an odor. In addition, the human nose is not sensitive enought to detect such subtle changes. Cancer cells are derived from normal cells. The differences are very small especially in the early stages.

NO i don't believe that humans can smell cancer on others ,,we do not have the noses like cats and dogs have so we will not be able to smell cancer unless we were trained to and i still don;t think our noses are that receptive...i can smell death though..when i am in a hosp i can smell death on certain people as i have smelled it a few times and last was my mothers death 'that i smelled and she died 4days later,,,,,,,,

yes, think about it, what is cancer? it is a rotting of the tissue of the affected area, and especially advanced cancer, has a distinct bad odor. before my husband was diagnosed with esophageal cancer he had a horrible odor coming from his mouth whenever he would exhale deeply or belch, i teased him once that his breath smelled like he had ''farted'' out his mouth, a good but crude description, two weeks later, he was diagnosed and the doctor confired the odor was what gave him his first suspicion
