I have whiplash and omg my neck hurts so bad. Ibuprofen isn't working and it's combined with moist heat and ice. What can I do to reduce the amount of pain I'm in? I'm resting a lot, too.

I had to go to the hospital after I passed out. The doctors told my mom it was whiplash and they x-rayed my neck. I have school all day and it is a nightmare to move my neck at all..... I just need a painkiller that will get me through the day without causing me to fall asleep or any bad side effects.

Have you gone to the doctors? I ask because usually for something like this they give you the standard motrin but they also give a muscle relaxer (usally Soma) and a stronger pain killer like vicodine to alternate the motrin with. I know because I feel at a gas station july 4th and because my mother has had neck problens and surgeries forever. If these don't work then you need to go to the doc and see if you have a pinched nerve, slipped disk, need therapy, or at the very least they can refer you to a pain management specialist.

Yeah, I'm violently allergic to aspirin but Tylenol does work for me. I'd be seriously worried about a headache which lasts for weeks...go get checked out. Lots of headaches can be relieved by changing the pressure inside your skull using external force (obviously! haha). I have a technique which needs another person to help but try this if you are alone...Wet a bandanna and wring it out so that it's not dripping and tie it tightly around your head just about at your eyebrow line. Lie down in a QUIET, darkened room and wait. You should have some relief after about 10 minutes. Since there are no side effects you can do this as often as you need.

There is no such thing as whiplash. It is a description of post-traumatic pain symptoms that probably come from deep inside of your unconscious. While this might be due to the accident that seemed to have caused the pain; it is more likely coming from repressed issues deep in your psychology. Read any book by Dr. John Sarno. His most recent, Divided Mind, is the most comprehensive. But one of his early ones, which are shorter, can be helpful. He takes you through a personal treatment program that may have you pain free without pain medication or physical treatments.

Take an epsom salt bath. It will relax the muscles and make you feel so much better. I always add about 2 pounds of epsom salts to a bath. That ammount is what Edgar Cayce recommends. YOu can also save some of the bath water in a bucket and make warm compresses with it. dip a towel in the water and then ring it out a bit. place it on your neck and add a heating pad and poof.. instant relief.

You should go see a doctor and get and x-ray if you haven't already. You could have slipped a disk in your neck. Now if you have done that already then I hate saying this that is will just take time to get rid of it. However, possibly getting a neck collar will help as it wil support your neck so that you are not straining. However, this will warrant a visit to the doctor.

Are you seeing a physical therapist? If not you should Immediately see one, so that they can work on your neck to reduce the pain.

everything you're doing at home is good. You need a professional to work on your neck.

I'm also enclosing a link for chiropractors in your area. They are also good for this sort of problem.

First of all, you need to go to the doctor! You could have a condition much more serious that whiplash! Second, I would recommend the "hydrocodone", which is generic for either Loricet or Loritab. It does wonders for muscle pain.

I just got over a slipped disc. I went to the chiropracter but they said they wouldn't touch me til I got muscle relaxers and pain killers for the muscle spasm. THAT did not work. Finally I went to a doctor who gave me some valium and a steroid called PREDNISONE. It worked miracles after I had suffered for 2 weeks. See if your doctor will give you a sample.

You need to get some physical therapy if you truely have whiplash. Also try using naproxen in presciption strength to see if that works better.
