why should i bother picking up and reading the bible? i'm talking about the ones who say evolution is the theory that people came from monkeys. it's obvious you don't know squat about evoultion. So why do you whine about us not reading the bible if you don't read about evolution?

Rainbow...please, do not bother to read the Bible for proof... but if you do not read the Bible, then you will not know squat about religion and as such, should not discuss it.

People who say evolution is about people coming from monkeys are simply repeating crap they have heard. I learned a great deal about evolution, and many, many other scientific means of thought in high school and college.

Being a non-believer does not make you an expert on evolution, adaptation, survival of the fittest, global warming, stem cell research, new medical discoveries, the principles and dynamics of life, how the brain works...I can go on...all being a non-believer makes you is not an expert on world belief.

I have read many science books. and many on Darwin's theory of evolution. Furthermore I would agree with his survival of the fittest passing along the better genes and thus evolution. And it can be tracked through the carbon dating and fossil research. Each has a progression , however modern man and Australopithecus as well as Neanderthal and homo erectus all are in the same fossilized record together. Therefore to draw a conclusion ... evolution did not happen from a monkey or chimp or gorillas because all around at same time. Evolution does explain a great deal but not everything.

Your second argument is that you wont pick up a bible because Some Christians wont pick up a science book. I am not saying that those Christians are wrong or right just they don't have all the facts. and if you are not willing to take a look at the whole picture then you too do not have all the facts.

Whoa! Who said Christians don't read about science? Even if evolution is true, what difference does it make as to whether there is a God or not? There are many, many references in the Bible that many Christians truely don't have a good explaination for because no one is absolute positive how we got here.
One thing for sure - in science, - in order for a change to occur, there has to be a collision of atoms - on a castrophic level for thousands and millions of years - AND each collision HAS to be absolutely perfect to create a new and changed lifeform.

Regarding the Darwin theory, the arguement that goes most against it is this: If we are decendents from monkeys , we would still have tails. The length of time required for us to have evolved from them "without" tails, would require another million years to take place.

Now don't get all mad because you don't like this answer -
but you want to argue science - read the entire story, not just one or two theories.

Also - and this is being said only with a good humored spirit for you: My daughter asked me one time - "Mom, if evolution is really true - then why aren't we ALL Monkeys!" I have to tell ya - I didn't have an answer on that on! Have a great day!

So you've decided to fight ignorance with ignorance? That doesn't sound too bright. Remember, there are ALSO other christians who DO know the sciences. And a lot of the monkey talk is just a shorthand speak anyway. The actual beliefs of Intelligent Design are not any easier to describe with one-liners than those of Evolution are.

I think you should get an NIV Bible, cuz there are footnotes that scientifically explain how the parting of the Red Sea can happen; the miracle is that all of the Israelites made it through while the Egyptians didn't. You also would benefit from reading the NIV archaeological study Bible; it's chock full of evidence that shows that the Bible is real... especially the first few pages into the Book

can you prove that darwin was right or can you prove that lanmark was correct all of them and if you realy read science book you will find that they said darwin theory not darwin facts . and also i like to drow your attention that the bible say that during the 1st 5 days ( which are not a day like ours ) every thing were created also the animals to make the earth ready for human who created on the last day so one day could be milion of years who knows and evolution happend to all kind of animals to servive with the changing earth even for human been as you can see the cave man was stronger than the man on today and has some phisical shap allow him to servive so we don't denay evolution but not that we were monkeys before

I know what evolution teaches..I just don't agree with it. I wasn't always a christian...even before I became a Christian I dropped the theory of evolution..there's just too many holes in that theory for me.
example: NO complete fossil record that proves the evoltuion of even one species...they ALL have "missing links"

secondly carbon dating is flawed at best..assumes a constant "decay rate" ..the decay rate could easily be effected by "shielding" from the earth, higher density of atmosphere years ago etc...cosmic rays are instrumental in effecting "decay rate"...shielding from them will have a noticeable effect

thirdly...some scientists will tell you that there is a sediment/dust layer worldwide that proves an asteroid wiped out the dinosaurs; but, NEVER consider the POSSIBILITY
that this "dust" layer is actually sediment from a "great flood".....talk about 'closed minded"...will not even consider all the options...that's never a good idea for a scientist. A hypocrite is one that will not accept any evidence unless it proves his/her already finalized conclusion.

I am knowledgeable about both biology and chemistry ( physics give me a headache! All that math . . . .)

Before you make an incorrect sweeping generalization, please acknowledge that there are many informed and educated Christians and religious people out there.

Apparently, your experience is with the minority. But in response to your reading the Bible, just remember that the best offense is a good defense.

Knowing a position from all sides is the single most effective way to win your case. Or at least make a respectable showing of it :0)

I am a Christian and I do read about science (yes, even about evolution). As a matter of fact, I love science. I just don't believe a lot of what I am reading. I believe God and the Bible first and I keep their teachings with me whenever I read anything else. If it is false, then I read it purely as entertainment or knowledge about how the world views science. To me, science doesn't prove the Bible, the Bible proves science. If the scientific "evidence" doesn't go along with what my Bible tells me, then I am going to believe that it is false, simple as that.

By the way, you make an aweful generalization when you say that no Christians know anything about eveolution. That is just like if I said, "No athiests know anything about the Bible." A lot of us do know, we just choose not to believe.

The problem with reading the bible to find "proof" is that the bible isn't based on logic or facts. A science book has plenty of logic and is full of facts. The people who reject science are just plain ignorant. Did you know there are hundreds of thousands of Catholics who think that dinosaurs are just an elaborate hoax?

I would also like to add for all you idiots who say evolution is just a theory....A theory is a hypothesis that has been proven by the scientific community. Gravity is another theory. Are any of you dumb enough to argue that gravity isn't real?
