Those that say Christians are rude and obnoxious- have you read some of the non-christian remarks today- wow!! I am not excusing Christians if we truly are rude however it is a double standard here, don't you think?

I couldn't agree with you more. But Jesus and the apostles said it would be like this, so we shouldn't be surprised. I was reading some of the answers and the person who said he "doesnt have to answer to an imaginary god" gave you the reason. With Chrisitianity, there is the standard of Jesus which is perfect. Jesus' love, compassion, holiness, and all virtues of moral excellence was perfect, is perfect now, will always be perfect. Even as followers of Christ with the blessed Holy Spirit indwelling us, our love will NEVER be perfect and measure up to His. So unbelievers call this hypocrisy. It is only hypocrisy if we are claiming perfection for ourselves but not living up to it. We don't claim perfection for ourselves, we readily admit we need a Savior to atone for our sins. The non believer (in theory) believes in himself as a self god who can make his/her own rules anytime he/she wants, can violate, change, twist those rules as he/she deems fit so they always miss the standard he/she sets up for him/herself. It's easy to live in postmodernism where truth is relative, always fluctuates, and vacillates back and forth, up and down. The problem they face is trying to explain why rape or date rape is morally wrong, racism and bigotry are immoral behavior when there is no objective standard to evaluate an idea as either a vice or a virtue. It's amazing to see the "about change" when their own personal bias is being tampered with though. I like it when the non believer says, you "should not" do this or that. My reply is "why?" It's one's own personal bias, don't shove your moral bias down mine or anybody else's. Yes, Christians believe rape, date rape, murder, racism, etc. is wrong because there is an objective standard in the person of Jesus Christ who taught it and lived it out, but also died to atone for my sins. What does the atheist, agnostic, skeptic, critic, have to fall back on? He can't logically defend his/her position of his/her moral absolute which he/she has whether they want to admit it or not.

I think there are both Christians and non Christians who could use a lesson in common courtesy and both groups have exceptions that prove the rule. You know what amazes me most is that R&S is supposedly full of people with faith in various religions yet there is nothing God-like in the way they treat each other. I think everyone should just treat others how they would like to be treated. I can easily respect another persons religion, so long as they aren't telling me that the way I live is wrong or that I'm going to burn in hell for all eternity.

Some Christians are rude because of their immaturity and narrow-mindedness. But as for the non-Christian, how can they not be rude? Without Jesus we humans can do nothing good!!

Being rude is quite simply a human trait. However, anybody trying to prove a point is always best served by showing the other side respect.

I do actually agree with you. I dont see a it as necessary to be rude to someone that is being nice and simply asking a question. However...I will jump all over someone if they are being accusational or rude.

Not to dis you, but shouldn't there be a double standard?
Any religion that is hell-bent on selling itself to people has to be called to account for any behavior that demonstrates a reason not to buy it.
If Satanism or Buddhism were trying to buy my soul, they'd get the same treatment....
Which, I suppose, makes it NOT a double standard afterall.

Actually, you're right. There is a "double standard".
Christians are obliged to live by the standard of their faith.
Non-Christians are not bound by that standard.
Why expect non-christians to behave as if they were christian?
