I'm the bride and a close friend of the family is hosting it for me. I was curious if I should get her a gift in return for her throwing the party for me, or not since that was like her gift to me??

I think I would frame a thank you note with the promise of picture from the wedding.

A gift isn't necessary, but a token of your appreciation would rock her world. (And if it's your bridesmaid who's throwing the shower then you'll be getting her a bridesmaid gift anyway). Write a personal note inside a thank you card or get her a inexpensive (but good) bottle of wine or some other little trinket. Give it to her and say something like "I know I didn't need to but I ust wanted to show you how much I realllly apreciate all your hard work."

I think a nice thank you card and some flowers would be nice, but nothing more than that is needed since the shower is a gift she is giving you.

A thank you note would be nice, but a gift is not necessary. However, if you want to and can easily afford it, you can send her flowers along with the thank you card.

Congratulations and best wishes on your wedding and marriage.

You should. It would be nice. Maybe you can get her some flowers or a T-shirt that says "bridesmaid" or a nice box of chocolates.

Never heard of getting a gift for the host or hostess. Just give her a big hug and lots of thanks.
