i would say 50 % of christians didn't have any problem with it, in fact a few pastors encouraged watching it. it is blasphemous and i understand why some christians might not want it released but i myself think it causes no problems. sometimes christians get scared over dumb things. i mean really. how many christians watched that movie and became non-christians. the author of the di vinci code even says it is not true. christians just need to chill sometimes and stop getting on everybodies case

Actually yeah. A lot of Christians did not want this movie to be shown because they knew that a lot of people in this world would view this movie as accurate or fact, when in truth, the book is completely fictitional (expect for the historical places described) and Dan Brown even puts that fact on the front page of every one of his books. The book, or movie, was written to be a good read, which it is. The movie wasn't too bad either. The problem lies in the fact that a lot of people will view the movie or read the book and then become confused about the truth behind the story. That is why a lot of Christians did not want it to be seen.
On a more personal note, I loved the book, I liked the movie, and I am a Christian. I will admit that I do not think that people should watch the movie looking for answers. If they want answers they should pray or read the bible, not go watch a Hollywood flick. And as to whether or not the ideas expressed in the movie are leaning more on the true side... eh, there is no way for us to really know right now. I guess God will tell us later. Personally, I do not think that it would be against God for Jesus to have been married or to have had a child. Marriage, under God, is a holy and blessed union. I don't see how that would have made Jesus any less perfect. But like I said, we will never really know until God tells us... so why even think about it too hard?

It's not so much that it's offensive as that it's fiction pretending to be fact. How would you like it if the Cold War novel 'Raise The Titanic' were pushed as an archaeological special on the History Channel? That's basically what happened here. When authors write stories, they generally make sure that the background information given is correct. This does not happen in the Davinci Code. He redefines actual persons, organizations, and events into things that never happened, even when they had nothing to do with the storyline. That can be confusing for anyone not a history buff, and insulting to those who DO know the true history of the events described.

Because technically, it's one big fallacy.
Deke: We didn't laugh it off, because the human mind, is very easily manipulated. So non-believers that might have found there way, may not because of those false teachings. Please don't assume you know "us" (I use us, since it seems that most if not all no-believers like to generalize) and what goes on in our minds and hearts. I never watched it personally, I didn't need to. The reviews let the whole world see what the movie was really about. To me, if I were a budding Christian or an inquiring mind looking for some answers, that is the worst movie to see. God is infallable and that's all there is to it.

There are activists everywhere. I still haven't seen it. But I did have some of it explained to me by an great Bible teacher. The author of the Da Vinci Code was really good at some things, in the way he presented them. but what he was not good at was Church and Bible History. So he got a part of the history wrong.
It's not the first time that happened with those who write novels.

We dont like movies like that falsely represent the Gospel and try to rewrite history.
The author himself admitted it was fiction, yet the anti-Christs among us kept perpetuating the notion that it is true and the church is hiding something. Unbelievers do this in order to discredit the Gospel and the church in as many minds as they can as they have over the centuries. Da Vinci Code was just another assault on the church like many before it.

Partly because it's very offensive and blasphemous according to Christian belief and partly because we knew that people would watch it and believe it as fact.
I wasn't offended by the movie, but I do get offended by non-Chrisitans claiming that things portrayed in the movie and/or book are true and based on fact as opposed to ficiton.

hell I didn't' want the Da Vinci does in theaters not because it upset my beliefs, but because it was a horribly wrote book, the clues took leaps of logic even more unbelievable then thinking a guy with a bead made the earth in 6 days. Seriously it was a really stupid horrible book wrote at a 6th grade reading level.

I wama christian and did watch the movie. My only concern was that since there are many people who are unsure about whether to believe in God or the Bible then ti makes it more confusing and God is not into promoting confusion
