What's with the different spellings of AutoCAD/AutoCADD?

Is there a real difference, or do some people just throw the extra D on the end for no apparent reason?

There's only one correct spelling, the one with only one "D".

not sure but look at the Libyan leader's name - is it Khadaffi or Quadaffi ?
