i weighed it for you- a cup of extra lean ground beef is around 4.5 oz.

(i also checked fitday.com-a website that helps you track calories. a cup of cooked ground beef is 312 calories, and 4.5 oz of ground beef is 320 calories.)

A cup (measuring) has 8 oz. If the ground beef is packed fairly well, it's probably around 8 oz.

A cup holds 8 "fluid" ounces which means that you have to weigh hamburger and not measure it.

Yes, in general, half a pound should be about one cup.
