for most it's a combination of the types of carbs that they consume and the amount as compared to the daily level of exercise. those that do not have physically active jobs simply do not need to consume that many carbs daily.
see how you feel at 100 grams daily and adjust from there. stay away from processed carbohydrates like bread, crackers, pasta, etc. instead of those types of foods consume whole oatmeal, lentils, beans, etc. this foods are low calorie and high fiber. they help to lower both total cholesterol and serum insulin levels.
