I don't know if it is a cult, but I do know it's not in any way Judaism.

Jews for Jesus is a group of people who have accepted that Jesus Christ died for their sins and is indeed the Messiah foretold in the Hebrew scriptures.

They are strongly evangelistic because they are obeying God who told them to Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every living creature.

As far as having all the marks of a cult - I would certainly like to know what you consider ALL THE MARKS of a cult. I already know what they are but it would be interesting to see if you do. Proselytizing is not a mark of a cult but is the normal activity of any person who is a Christian and cares about where people spend their eternity.

While all cults proselytize - not everyone who proselytizes is in a cult. There are some real Christians reaching out to others with the good news of the gospel.

In todays understanding of "cult" there must be a leader who considers himself equal to or above God and only uses religion to attract people.

Jews for Jesus is for cultrual Jews who wish to maintain their heritage but also believe in Jesus. It is a country wide organization that is well respected by the Christian community. Messianc Christians, by the same token, wish to follow the Jewish traditions while believing Christ is the Savior still.

If aggressive proselytizing is a problem for you, stay away from them. It you are not Jewish, they are not going to try and convert you.

It depends on how you define a cult. I believe a cult to be anything that bases a belief on material added to, or deleted from, the Bible. In this case they wouldn't be a cult. Don't forget a lot of people think Christianity is a cult. "Cult" is a loaded term.

Not that I am aware of.

They are Jews that have come to accept Jesus as the Messiah.

Such doesn't make them a cult - unless you have a def. for that word that I don't.

cult - noun

1. followers of an exclusive system of religious beliefs and practices
2. an interest followed with exaggerated zeal; "he always follows the latest fads"; "it was all the rage that season" [syn: fad]
3. followers of an unorthodox, extremist, or false religion or sect who often live outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader
4. a religion or sect that is generally considered to be unorthodox, extremist, or false; "it was a satanic cult"
5. a system of religious beliefs and rituals; "devoted to the cultus of the Blessed Virgin"

It's a group of former Jews who want to convert other Jews. That doesn't make it a cult.

They are Christians just as much as Catholics, Mormons, JWs, or any other Christian cult. They are not and never have been Jews.
