In short simple terms, oral bacteria causes bad breath.Certain foods like garlic and onions can cause bad breath because they contain the same compounds( Anaerobic Sulfur-Producing Bacteria ), that create bad breath. If you regularly consume these foods, it can create higher amounts of bacteria and lead to halitosis.

Everyone knows that garlic causes garlic breath. Long after eating a garlic-laden meal, the spicy smell lingers. That is because the odor causing sulfurous chemicals in garlic float in the blood for hours. When oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange places in the lungs, those garlic odors rise out of the lungs for all to notice.

I hope this was helpful,Take Care!!! :)

Amen! I love garlic and yeah, it does make you smell. I think it's because garlic is quickly absorbed into your blood stream. (I'm sure you've heard that if you have high blood pressure, eat a lot of fresh garlic. It's a natural blood thinner too!).
Once it's in your blood stream, it just comes out of your pores.
