Oh, God, there is no polite way!

But if you want to be a friend, you'll warm up to her and tell her directly and privately, perhaps outside of work. Maybe you can share an embarrassing story of your own (even lie) to take the sting out of it.

This is one of the more bizarre things I have answered, just for the record.

It's definitely awkward. But what I'd do is pull her aside quietly and say "Hon, you need to go to the restroom and check your pants RIGHT NOW." In a very hushed voice of course. And say "I thought you'd want to know" in a caring tone.

I'm sure after she's over the initial embarrassment she'll be glad you told her before the whole office sees it.

Just tell her that something is wet on the back of pants. No need to mention what it is or how it got there; she will figure it out.

Just say: Oh! It looks like you might have sat in something. You should go to the ladies' room and check it out.

Say it nicely and don't make a big deal out of it. She might even thank you.

umm, embarassing! is she taking those cholesterol absorbing pills? i hear they cause "anal leakage" i was amazed to read this is a known side effect! and that people will still use them! surely she would notice this when she goes to the loo? let alone the odour??
maybe a post it note, placed on desk , whilst she is out of the room. to avoid embarassing you or her?
