that Judaeism and christianity are the only true religions on the planet. Why is it that people of other areas (china, for example) had their own religions that have absolutely nothing in common with the afore mentioned religions. Is it possible that religion spreads just like any other idea or disease, that is, only through contact with infected persons or materials? Is it possible that the god of this religion is a little less than omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient? Is it possible that it is only one idea, of many created by peoples all over the world?

Why or why not?

p.s. yes, this is a personal challenge to a specific person, but I'm very interested in what everyone else has to say on this matter also.

I'm not sure who it is now.. I think it is the buddhists - they explain with a story of a bunch of blindfolded people and an elephant. One man grabbed the trunk of the elephant, and they decided that what they were feeling was a tree. Another man grabbed a leg, and decided that it was a barrel. You get the picture. They say that this is what religion is - all religions find a little bit of truth of the same omniscient being, but they interpret it differently.

Many ideas spread and influence other ideas to take place. That's why religions which were discovered in other parts of the world are so diverse - they didn't have any other ideas or explanations to sway their own, back when its foundations were being placed. Now, these religions are coming across each other but these religions have existed for 1000s of years - they're not going to change now.

I assume a 'true religion' in your question means 'the only correct religion'. I do believe this. I believe most other religions have the same base desire - giving a reason for existence. Religious beliefs spread like a medicine to attempt to cure the illnesses suffered by man, due to sin. All of these cures are superficial, with one exception.

It is possible that the God of the Christian faith is less than omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. It is equally possible that He is all of these. It is also possible that Judaism/Christianity was created by man. It is equally possible that it is the only way, and that it is the only accurate understanding of absolute truth in a religious context.

Its always difficult to work around the 'argument from the negative' and in an 'appeal to a lack of evidence'.

Well I'm not going to deal with the idea you have of God being less than omni-whatever, but I really do question how valid your statement that Chrisianity has nothing in common with eastern "religions." I'm no expert in either, but I've studied eastern religions a little and I am a follower of Jesus Christ. If you really study either one, and you try to understand the meanings and the teachings of Jesus Christ's messages as well as those of Siddhartha Gautama, Taoism, Confucius, or many other eastern "religions," I think you will find thousands of similarities. From my studies on Christianity, I've been offered a few explanations of the similarities. I think that it is God's way of reaching people in those eastern areas. I'm not convinced that Christianity is the only religion that in the end leads to God, but I do know that Jesus made an incredible sacrifice for me, and for you. maybe we don't all know or realize that yet, and maybe it is a whole other set of ideas and beliefs that is supposed to lead us to Him. In the end, I know that it is part of His plan for all of us, and despite the questions we have about it, there is some reason or purpose behind all of it.

There is unbelievers in all nations, and there is Christians in all nations. The truth is the truth no matter where it is found. The bible is the only religious book that has answers to how the world came to be, prophecies fufilled, scientific evidence, and true understanding of the world around us. It is impossible that the bible could have been written by man kind.

Omnipotent? All your religions including Christian and Jew have a God about as Omnipotent as your butt. Why don't you people grow up and quit challenging each other with your paper doll deities. Its bad enough that you waste a single day every week playing with your paper doll Gods. Without trying to thwart them against others.

This is because of colossal human intelligence. Human tends to do everything without limitations. Curiosity Killed the Cat. God gave everything to Adan and Eve, but they expect something more.

All religions proceed from the same source. Their outward differences are due to the capacity of its hearers and the need of the age when they were revealed.

"It is clear and evident to thee that all the Prophets are the Temples of the Cause of God, Who have appeared clothed in divers attire. If thou wilt observe with discriminating eyes, thou wilt behold Them all abiding in the same tabernacle, soaring in the same heaven, seated upon the same throne, uttering the same speech, and proclaiming the same Faith. Such is the unity of those Essences of Being, those Luminaries of infinite and immeasurable splendor! Wherefore, should one of these Manifestations of Holiness proclaim saying: "I am the return of all the Prophets," He, verily, speaketh the truth. In like manner, in every subsequent Revelation, the return of the former Revelation is a fact, the truth of which is firmly established....

The other station is the station of distinction, and pertaineth to the world of creation, and to the limitations thereof. In this respect, each Manifestation of God hath a distinct individuality, a definitely prescribed mission, a predestined revelation, and specially designated limitations. Each one of them is known by a different name, is characterized by a special attribute, fulfils a definite mission, and is entrusted with a particular Revelation. Even as He saith: "Some of the Apostles We have caused to excel the others. To some God hath spoken, some He hath raised and exalted. And to Jesus, Son of Mary, We gave manifest signs, and We strengthened Him with the Holy Spirit."

It is because of this difference in their station and mission that the words and utterances flowing from these Well Springs of Divine knowledge appear to diverge and differ. Otherwise, in the eyes of them that are initiated into the mysteries of Divine wisdom, all their utterances are, in reality, but the expressions of one Truth. As most of the people have failed to appreciate those stations to which We have referred, they, therefore, feel perplexed and dismayed at the varying utterances pronounced by Manifestations that are essentially one and the same."

i believe most 'religions' are 'real'.... as for if they are 'correct', no.. i don't believe that many are correct at all... in fact, i think 'religion' as a whole is more of a downfall because they are 'man' ruled... with doctrines that are many times outside of what the Bible says...

I belong to Christ... not any 'church' or denomination
