Tell him you're a virgin. If he doesn't believe you, ask him why it matters if he's not either.

More so curiousity, but a little jealous may occur if he finds out the #; ultimately I think it is just an insecure man thing, something he just wants to know for his information. I mean why would a rational person want to think about the person they are in a realtionship with, being intimate with another person(s). Unless the question is asked for health related reasons, I will never know why it is important to know how many partners a person has had before you, unless the past is interfering with the present. If you choose to answer that question, you will wish you hadn't and he might too, especially if the # is more than what he had thought. Whatever # you say will not be acceptable, he will think you are lying just to shut him up, or that you slept with too many guys, so don't even bother. You should ask him if the number is really that important, and tell him that those people were b4 you met or knew him, so they don't matter. Alot of guys ask questions like that, and sometimes cannot take the answer. So if this is not information you want to share on your own, then don't, and if he wants to break up or something crazy like that, let him go because he really isn't worth your time. All the best.

Stick with not answering it. It's a double edged sword.
If he thinks your number is high, it means you'll be done with him soon so he won't let himself get attached and it'll be a self-fulfilling prophecy.
If he thinks your number is low, he might expect you to get too attached and subconsciously do things to keep that from happening, and it ends the same way as a number he thinks is too high.
It's not jealousy or curiousity, it's insecurity.

I think it could be a little of both and it depends on the guy. Some might think 4 guys is much some guys might not. If you dont wanna give the # then it's probably more than u want it to b. Me im honest about it right from the start why play games if he doesn't wanna stay because of #'s then you dont need him

It's a BAD subject to get into, and tends to stir up insecurity and jealousy. The past is the past, leave it there.

It could start out as curiosity but when he gets jealous he will use it against you or as an excuse to justify cheating . If he really loves you it shouldn't matter or be an issue.

Insecurity!!!! That's his biggest problem. His insecurity can result in jealousy and jealousy can become a big problem. Tell him to get over it..........

It's none of his business. If he keeps asking you, turn the questions on him.
