Christians believe a lot of ridiculous things. 666 is the least of their problems.

No, 666 is not 'evil,' or any other baloney like that. But I am surprised you are basing your opinion of Christianity on less than 2% of the living Christian population. As for rational thought, how rational is it to take an attribute of the small minority and assign it to the majority? They call that an unrepresentative sample, and it is a logical fallacy.

It is just a number for now. It will be a means of economic control when the one-world religion and government are formed. It will most likely be some kind of 18 digit number used to convey information about an individual and for use in all economic transactions.
From the way you wrote the question, you are on target to take the mark. Better make some changes before it is too late.

I once worked with a woman who regularly threw off the cash register balance...sometimes by quite a bit.
One of the most common things we sold went for $53.34 after taxes. Frequently people would hand over three twenty-dollar bills. She refused to give out the exact change because of the number: $6.66.
She considered this superstitious fear to be a sign that she was a "good Christian".
(Ironically, this "good Christian" would later get arrested for check fraud and identity thieft.)
Last time I checked, the number 666 was a reference to Julius Ceasar...his name written out in Roman numerals, as was typical for tradition's sake.

I agree, the number has no power, and I'm not scared of it. I think it is ridiculous that some Christians get all freaked out about it. I don't personally know anyone that cares, but I have heard of them. I've been in church all my life, and I've learned that Jesus has already won the battle, and if He's on our side, no one can stand against us. I see no reason to fear a number that can symbolize Satan. If he's already lost, he shouldn't scare me, nor should his number.
The same goes for all other superstitions, #13, walking under ladders etc. I sometimes just do those things just to freak other people out and to show them that I'm not scared, I know that Jesus is in control, and I'm not going to fear the power of superstition. If Christians are fearing something, they're in sin. Fear = not trusting in God

666:
6th seal
6th trump
6th vial
What is common about all of these?
Antichrist.
"Count" the number of the beast, doesn't mean to count 1-2-3, but instead it means to "enumerate over a vast amount of time, as a stone that is worn smooth from water running over it for eons of time".
That means the mark of this and its fuller
understanding can be found in the beginning of our earth age:
In fact, it is in the Garden of Eden; the mark placed on Cain when he was thrown out
was the mark of his blood father, Satan.
Anyway, yes of course 666 is just a number, did you think it had some magical meaning to it? God is not the author of confusion; we are natural, and God is
SUPERnatural, and he does things in a very simple and natural way. The number
is simply a teaching and steers the disiplined student over to the seals, trumps, and vials which are essential to the understanding of Gods plan.

666 is the number of the antichrist, the end times figure who will arise with the purpose of opposing God and God's people. 666 is the gamatria of the name of the antichrist,
What the Bible is saying is that the future antichrist will have a name that when it is written in Greek, its numeric equivalent will be 666.
"Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six," (Rev. 13:18).

And actually, I read something that said the Dead Sea Scrolls might actually have said 616 was the devil's number.
Don't bother asking me where, i forget.
