You can start by going to your parish and talking to a priest if your interested in the Catholic faith. Don't be ashamed or scared, just let him know that your interested in joining the Church. Salvation is a process. We are saved at baptism, we are being saved (working on our salvation daily) and we hope to be saved when the Good Lord comes to take us to heaven. God Bless you on your journey!
The Catechism says:
1257 The Lord himself affirms that Baptism is necessary for salvation. He also commands his disciples to proclaim the Gospel to all nations and to baptize them. Baptism is necessary for salvation for those to whom the Gospel has been proclaimed and who have had the possibility of asking for this sacrament. The Church does not know of any means other than Baptism that assures entry into eternal beatitude; this is why she takes care not to neglect the mission she has received from the Lord to see that all who can be baptized are "reborn of water and the Spirit." God has bound salvation to the sacrament of Baptism, but he himself is not bound by his sacraments.

You must confess to God by mouth that you are a sinner.
Ask him for forgiveness and to come into your heart to be your personal savior. Live your life for Christ!! You need to have a personal relationship with him. Pray always for strength, knowledge and wisdom and watch Christ open doors for you that you have never seen before. I will pray for you !! God bless!!

Trust God through Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. You have to trust Him. If you trust him, He will lead you to do the next thing. Otherwise, there is no peace with God.
