That is actually a very powerful combination. Your most potent role -- once you have some experience -- will be at the interface between those two disciplines.

Finance people who understand engineering are rare, and engineers who understand finance (and business) are similarly rare. A person who can find and translate opportunities between those two worlds is extremely rare, and very valuable. You will have to be diligent in finding the right role, but it is out there. You shouldn't look for it in conventional settings. But, since you invested all this time getting these two degrees, it seems like you might be insightful enough, and persistent enough find it.

It has worked for me.

I have a chemical engineering degree and a graduate degree in strategic change management, and have found it very useful (and successful) sitting at the interface between those two disciplines.

Good luck to you!

A great combination! However, start with the chemical engineering degree using the MBA as a "kicker" and learn some engineering skills (especially in a production and/or processing area where the practical and operational aspects are used and which interface with financial systems) Then the MBA can lever you into management positions where you can use both degrees to advantage.

I got the Chem E but got the manager job before the MBA got done - it would have been "easier" your way! Good luck!

I've been in the job world for nearly 10 years now - I've found that most people have jobs that don't have anything to do with their degree. Don't limit yourself. You might have a better chance at a good paying job with your chemical engineering degree - unless you have business experience that will support your MBA.
It also depends on where you live - here's a company that has good benefits and pays well.

You'll probably have to choose one or the other. You may want to consider working as a ChE for a while and then you may be able to move to a marketing or management job. If you have no experience in industry, you won't find an entry level job that uses both degrees with any ease.
