You will need to find the source of the problem. Sciatica is more of a symptom than an actual condition. I have it from a bulging disc and physical therapy is really helping out a lot. You should try that first and in the meantime, get some mild pain killers or anti-inflamitories from your doctor.

Hey there,
I found many interesting info about sciatica here: http://curesciatica.toptips.org
While looking for a miracle cure, it has to be understood that sciatica pain in itself is not a disease. It is actually a symptom or a group of symptoms with an underlying cause that needs to be targeted if some sort of permanent pain relief is what one is looking for. But one thing is absolutely clear. Incorporating a few exercises that have a beneficial effect on sciatica pain in daily regime is of great help and whether a patient is taking drugs or not, these exercises ensure that his muscles are kept in a toned condition that lessen any flare up of pain. Just a few stretching exercises can bring about a drastic change in the levels of pain and signify the importance of exercise in the management of sciatica pain.
I hope it helps

I assume the sciatica is due to a disc problem? I have had a bulging disc for two years, on morphine and NO sciatica pain until five weeks ago. Then I stood up and POP! This was more than just pain down the back and legs, but abdominal, morphine did not stop the nerve pain. The only relief I have found is exercise and seeing a Physiotherapist about my bad 'posture'. Likewise I also have a 'corset' not the type Madonna wears. However exercise for me is the key to stop the pain and I go for 45 minutes of 'Aqua Jogging' once a week, now that is Heaven.

The only relief I've ever got from it was to go to a good chiropractor. They are the ones trained to put the disc that is putting pressure on the nerve back where it belongs. Usually if the sciatic is involved so isn't disc L5. It is the one closest to that nerve. It is a real painful thing for sure. The chiropractor I go to has more than once made the pain go away on the first visit. Go to one who has got their degree in the last 25 years. Big difference.

The pain we associate with sciatica is not related to the typical causes ascribed to it. It probably come from deep inside of your unconscious. Read any book by Dr. John Sarno. His most recent, Divided Mind, is the most comprehensive. But one of his early ones, which are shorter, can be helpful. He takes you through a personal treatment program that may have you pain free without pain medication or physical treatments.

It can be aliviated, going to a massage therapist, chiropractic Dr., stretching, helps too. Remember is a nerve that is pinch in some way, is a long nerve that goes all the way down to your leg, so you can stretch the hamstrings, your quads, everything to find some sort of relieve.
Heres a site i recommend, hope it works
Good luck
Feel better

Acupressure is best for pain management.
Take Colocynthis 200 - 4 pills 4 times a day till symptoms abate along with Calcarea Fluor 6x - 4 pills twice daily. Homeopathy helps.
