I've never really gotten sunburned before but yesterday I really got it. I think it really had to do with my meds which instruct to avoid exposure to the sun. My husband really wanted to take me to the airshow so I put on sunblock (SPF 50! I never used something that strong) and thought I would be ok since I never really burn that bad. Well, I'm scorched!! Red as a lobster and everything. My face doesn't really hurt but my arms are killing me. Plus my arms throb and this morning my right arm wouldn't stop cramping. It hurts so bad I can barely sleep. I've been putting on my aloe vera ice burn relief stuff which usually helps but this time it doesn't seem to be doing any good. Any suggestions?? I'm not sure what to do since I've never been burned this bad before. I usually just turn a little pink then tan because of my dark skin. Thanks for all your help!

**I'm currently using Ocean Potion Instant Burn Relief ICE with Aloe Vera/Lidocaine.

However, it's not really helping.

Growing up in Phoenix and traveling through out the State of Arizona I learned real fast that even with sun block you can still burn. One of the best things that I can recommend is pure Aloe Vera. You can purchase through a store, but straight from the plant is better. I would say go get some and it will not only help relieve the pain but will also help healing and peeling can be reduced.

You might try mixing a tablespoon of Aloe Vera Gel with about 5 drops of lavender essential oil. Apply to the sunburned areas several times a day. I'd also take some Aleve or Motrin or something to assist with the immediate pain. Stay out of the sun as much as possible until the burn is gone. Take luke warm to slightly cool showers or soak in the tub. Wear soft cotton clothing, nothing with any polyester.

Make sure you drink enough water. I had sun stroke one time and it isn't anything to take lightly.

Sorry to tell u but u have to go to the hospital. I did the same thing when i went to aruba. I didnt think that it was as bad as they told me but i actually had 2nd degree burning. I felt symptoms of burning on my burnt spots, throbbing ,couldnt even move, dizzy, feeling like throwing up sometimes. They put a cream in the emergancy room that made it feel a little better. Also the will give u some good pain killers! Hope u feel better!

cold canned milk swabbed over the burnt areas. Once the milk drys a cool bath to rinse it off.The lactic acid in milk helps heal and moisturize the skin. The cold relieves the pain. I also take a benadryl and a motrin to reduce the swelling and inflammation. Make sure you drink several glasses of gator aid or a similar product to rehydrate yourself. Because of the medication interaction you may also need to call your doctor . There is a shot you can get to ease the sunburn if it is severe.

If you are not allergic to it, take Ibuprofen to ease the inflammation.
I heard that taking a lukewarm bath with about ten bags of black tea in the water helps too.
Wear loose-fitting clothes. Cotton clothes work the best for allowing your skin to breathe.
Vitamin E is food for the skin. Take supplements to quicken the healing.

Wear airy but long sleeves and pants at the next airshow.

aloe vera...you can find it at any drug store and it will cool and moisturize the area where you are sun burned. Most of the time it comes in a bottle and looks like a blue gel.

There's this green gel stuff made by Banana Boat and it's pure Aloe Vera. It may sting at first, but then it feels really cool and soothing. You may have to put it on repeatedly though. It works really well on mosquito bites too! I hope this helps!

Aloe is good but it is hard to find one that does not have alcohol added to it and you don't want to put that on your burn. Full fat
natural yogurt is the best spread thick.

I know of nothing that works any better or quicker than white vinegar. It takes the pain right away and we were advised to use it by the e.r. Since we tried it we have never gone back to anything else.
