No there's nothing wrong with her.She might be having a nightmare.Don't let her watch horror or any type of violent movie or act on t.v as this can effect her innocent mind.ask her, maybe some one is trying to horrify her.Be close to her so that she can feel secured, when she do it next time ask her what she feel and be with her and try to make her comfortable.Good Luck!

Is she having nightmares? My daughter is 8 and has been having nightmares several times a week since she was 2. She is a very happy girl and we are a very happy loving family. I finally took her to the dr. about it and he said she just has an over active imagination and perhaps some things are bothering her that she doesn't want to talk about. Now I make sure to have a little chat time every night before bed so she can talk to me about anything that is on her mind. This way it doesn't get bottled up and come out when she's sleeping. And these aren't BIG things, just little things, like an argument with a friend or getting scolded by her teacher. Anyway, it really seemed to make a difference. Good luck.

Our daughter did this somewhat, and as I recall, it was around the time we moved. I think a change like that can cause some disturbances with a little one. If you are concerned, call her doctor. They are always the best source for information. Occasionally, my daughter will still cry out in the night, but it does not last for very long. Maybe a minute at the most. Those are due to dreams.

My daugther does that a lot - she is 3 and 1/2. And when she does, she seems to be in a kind of semi-awake state so she can't explain why she woke up and why she's crying. She's very unreasonable and nothing can make her stop crying. We wait till she stops by herself - usually not more than 10 minutes. By that time she is awake and reasonable but sleepy so she goes to bed again. She's done that since she was little so we have accepted it as something that she normally does.

Well it might be that she's a late bloomer of sleep, she might becoming aware that she dreams, and this is very frightening for little children, because children are basic logical beings, and dreaming is not always logical, so she might be dreaming and getting scared when she can't explain it. This usually happens between the ages of 2 and ends at 4, but some children have it later or earlier. Don't panic, just make sure that she sleeps in her bed and that you explain her in simple words about dreaming and bad dreaming.
Good luck!

I used to wake up like that when I was little. I had nightmares almost every night.

My family was very dysfunctional and the nightmares were a good illustration of that.

They went away after my Mom divorced my father and a kind of peace settled over the house.

It's not that uncommon but you should still tell her doctor. My 9 yr old used to get up in the night crying when she was about 4. We'd just pull her into bed with us because we felt bad and we were tired...LOL. So she learned to cry to get into bed with us. HUGE mistake...took a year to get her to stop. No one slept that year!!! It's worth it if you walk her back to her bed and maybe rub her back until she goes back to sleep. It'll take time and patience...good luck...

yes, there is something wrong with it.

she could be having nightmares. i would take a good look at what is going on in her life. my neice who was molested was like that and she also peed the bed until she was 10. i am not saying that she was touched i am just saying that there could be something that is causing her nightmares. maybe an anxiety problem.

I would definitely take her to a doctor. It could be a medical condition that is bothering or hurting her or it could be nightmares. If the doctor is baffled you may even want to take her to a child psychologist and let the psychologist talk to the girl.
