Marinate it in Italian dressing. This adds some great flavor.

the night before you cook it, do the following:
1. poke holes all around the pork shoulder.
2. sazon and adobo is similar. use either one but not both. use instead sofrito: you can buy frozen or in a jar in the spanish food section in your supermarket.
3. in a bowl put in all the ingredients and mix it in together. After mixing it, start bathing the pork shoulder until all of the pork shoulder is seasoned.
4. I never used a crockpot for a pork shoulder; what I usually do is put the pork shoulder in a pan lined with aluminum foil, put the shoulder in the pan and then cover it so it can marinate itself. (you gave me an idea w/the crock pot though. Thanks) and put it in the fridge
5. the next day, take the pan (as is) and put it in the oven of 300 degrees and rotate it every hour (do this for about 5 hours). by the time its finish cooking, the pork is literally falling off the bone.

If you have the time, you could bbq it with moppin'.
Roast it uncovered in a 250 oven for 5 hours. Set meat aside and combine pan drippings (don't skim the fat off) with a little butter, hot sauce, white vinegar and salt. Preheat your gas grill or (even better) get your charcoal lit to medium-low heat. Grill the shoulder for 1 - 3 hours, basting every 15 minutes or so with your moppin'. If the outside seems a tiny bit charred, that's OK--those are the best bites. :)
When meat is done/tender/flavorful enough, remove from grill, shred meat, and pour remaining moppin' over the meat to soak in for maybe 15 - 20 minutes. Spread on hamburger buns and eat!

I love this cut of pork because I can usually find it on sale. I place it whole in the crockpot. I add about 1 cup of water and sprinkle Lawry's on it. After it cooks all day (10hrs), I shred it, disgard any drippings, place it back into the crockpot and add 1large bottle or 2 small bottles of a zesty bbq sauce. YUMMY!!!

You could pull it then pull it off the bone and add bbq sauce for a good pulled pork sandwhich. I also made a good carribean jerked pork roast this weekend

you can cut it up or leave it whole. cut a ton of slits in it and insert a garlic clove per slit. Then take it and brown it on all sides. put tomatoe juice in there until it comes to halfway and then take and cover with water add salt and pepper for taste. cook it for at least 5 hours boiling for about 1 hour.
