I understand that you mean it in some nebulous literary sense, but stop it. Just say "God is loving".

God represents 'love' in all its form and emotions. It is His essence. Stop being so literal. I bet you failed Literature, didn't you?

My shirt is red, but I don't say that stop signs are my shirt.
God is love in the sense that God's very being is three persons in eternal loving communion with one another. The love of the Trinity is what God is.
Unless my child and I filiate or spirate one another eternally, we probably don't God one another.
That is a good question, though, because that phrase can be pretty confusing. I remember being confused by that for a long time, too.

God loves and hates. In order for God to love he must hate. That is like saying I love children and love abortion that doesn't make any logical sense. So God is both loving and hating.

There is only one explanation that fully covers the definition of Love. It is found in Corinthians 1:13. Therefor, by that definition I would say without a doubt, GOD IS LOVE.

OH good heavens. This is one for the books. The Bible writers James was pointing out God's dominant quality. Can you not differentiate between that and an emotion we feel.
Do you not say, "I AM loyal". "I AM honest". "I AM impatient".
