Do they not realize that they were raised to believe what they believe. It's not like they actually chose Jesus, they were force fed it. So if they had been born into a Jewish family they would have been Jewish or an Islamic family, islamic and so on. I was raised in the christian church, but I kind of like Buddahs ideals, wish I would have had a choice when I was younger

Yes, I realize that not everyone was raised in the church and that at some point your life you had a hole you needed to fill and you tried to fill it with material possesions or children or pets but nothing worked so you "found god" because you're life is boring and you feel lost. I've seen it all before. We're all scared of the unknown but lets use science to get some concrete answers

You people do realize Jesus was from the Middle East and most likely was not pale white right?

Wow, the insight! Thank you for pointing that out to me!

For 37 years, I was raised by parents who did NOT take their children to church so that we would feel free to choose our own faith (which both of their children have done).

We were NOT "force fed" anything.

Now, I can - and do - proudly say "Catholic Convert and Proud of it".

Yes, we are raised to believe what we believe. We were raised to know right from wrong, we were raised to have good morals and values. We were taught that without these things, there would be consequences. We did not choose to be taught these things, yet it was taught on a daily basis. "Force fed" to us as you might say. When a child is raised in a Christian home and taught the ways of Christianity, they are given the tools to walk down the path of salvation. Like our morals, ethics, and values, our religion is part of our thought pattern. The same is true for the Jewish and Islamic community.

Parenting is an extremely difficult and challenging job, yet endlessly rewarding. I feel that if a parent raises his/her children in a good Christian home, along with instilling good morals, ethics, and values...that they have done all that they can do. If the child grows up and wants to explore other religions paths, that's their choice, as God has given us freedom of choice.

True, your parents chose to teach you about Jesus not because that's something YOU would have chosen, but because the words of the bible are something that from their experience, they have come to believe in and rely on. They wanted you to have the salvation and "road map" for life that they as Christians have.

Would you have this same complaint if you were raised in a Jewish or Islamic family? Or perhaps raised in a home where they believed in the snake handler thing? If would have been the same. You were raised how you were raised.

If you are indeed discontent with the Christian faith, my advice to you would be to pray about it. I don't see how it would hurt to explore other religious beliefs though. Remember though that we can't chose a religion based on convenience to ourselves. Being a Christian can be hard.

You sir,
Do not understand why Christianity. I was not brainwashed the way you supposed. Yes I was brainwashed but what was washed needed to be washed. If I had not been under the preaching and teaching of the Word of God, I do not know where I would have been; But I feel that it would have been either in the grave yard or in jail or worse and not in jail. I do not believe what I believe because have to,

BUT,

because I want to. I could not have become, as you stated and suppose, highly religious, unless I was brought up as I was; under the influence of the Bible.

Let me give you 7 reasons off the top of my head why.

1) I have peace of mind.
2) I have the privilege of missing hell and fire and brimstone forever,
3) I love the Lord with all of my heart, mind, soul, and spirit.
4) I have to ability to choose to stay saved or sin.
5) I get to be with Jesus since he is my brother and for God is my Father.
6) I live free from sin because of number 7.
7) I have the Spirit of the Living God living in me which enables me to live holy and guides me in to all truth.

Remember these are only seven reasons off the top if my head.

yes i realize jesus was middleeastren and probably not white unfortunitly there you go again with the christians again minipulating fact or what is possible and bending it to support their beliefs and race. I mean how can whites worship a dark jesus thats just not very white.(of course i'm just making a point i don't personally feel this way) this is also why i can't trust in the bible because i believe it was manipulated to suite the church and there beliefs at the time and why the bible is ot accrate in any way.

We were raised to think and know what is true. If we want to we can always change our minds but we don't because we know what is true is true and that's in our religion. We were not forced fed. We were fed the truth and thanks be to God for all faithful apostles or else we will be as hungry for truth as the rest of mankind.

>>Do they not realize that they were raised to believe what they believe.<<

No, I did not realize that. And to think, all this time I believed I had been brought up without religion by an agnostic mother and converted to Catholicism at age 32! And now I have found out from you, a perfect stranger, that I had been "raised to believe" what I believe. Fascinating! What else can you tell me about myself, perfect stranger?

You confuse the highly religious with the highly Christian.

I strayed very far from the faith. I practiced Hinduism and Buddhism throughout college and a little after. God definitely called me. I can assure you that I did not voluntarily get ordained and choose this life. There was an indubitable calling !!!
