You make an excellent point. But for me, there is more than just God's presence. He has intervened in my life so many times, I know he is there.
God gave us all free will. The ability to believe in him or not. If I didn't believe in him, I wouldn't die in vein. I would be denied eternal life in the kingdom of heaven when I die.

The difference is that I have compelling evidence for the existence of air while I have none for the existence of a god or gods.

Air exists and can be proved to exist:-
+ the effects of its removal can be demonstrated;
+ its composition can be analysed and determined;
+ it can be bottled, stored, compressed, separated into its component parts, added to, and altered
No-one has ever proved that God exists or performed any of the the actions listed above on God. In fact God is the very opposite of air - air is everywhere and is known and can be proved to exist. God is nowhere and does not exist and cannot be proved to exist, being based entirely on mythology and wishful thinking.

Air can be seen, felt and measured. Fantasy gods cannot. Plenty of people get along just fine without fantasy invisible gods to guide them and yet, they continue to exist.

god is more like a mental illness that can only be cured by labotomy. he is a diseased portion of a human brain that keeps the person's maturity/comprehension levels stuck in the phases of development where children still believe that santa clause is a real person.

I don't think the whole " God is like air" concept should be a constant comparison. Air isn't living, nor does it do anything on purpose to help us.

Drink up!
-----------------
I took away God three days ago.
You didn't die.
I guess you were wrong.
Sorry.
If you still think God is like air, I'd be happy to take away your air for three days and see what happens.

Air is a mixture of gases which possess extension and mass. They are substances of the physical universe.
God is the Creator of the Universe and not part of it. His substance is entirely non-physical, or spiritual to use the accepted term.

Wind has testible and duplicatable effects.
Further, I CAN see the wind -- look at it in the infrared and you'll see it plain as day. Yes, I need an assistive device to do this, but not much of one.

Not so much with God.
