If you say he cannot be evil because whatever he does is good, are you prepared to say unspeakable atrocites are good simply if god does them?

jonathan:

First, holy crap. You need a course in logic.

"Omnipotence is not the ability to do anything conceivable"
-- Yes it is. Look it up.

"...but the ability to do anything consistent with His nature and consistent with His desire"
-- By this standard, you are omnipotent.

If God were self contradictory, He would not be true.
-- Right, that's why he doesn't exist. He is self-contradictory.

Omnipotence is not the ability to do anything conceivable, but the ability to do anything consistent with His nature and consistent with His desire within the realm of His unlimited and universal power which we do not possess. This does not mean He can violate His own nature. If He did something inconsistent with His nature, then He would be self contradictory. If God were self contradictory, He would not be true. Likewise, if He did something that violated his nature, like become evil , He would also not be true since that would be a self contradiction. Since truth is not self contradictory, as neither is God, if He were not true, then He would not be God. But God is true and not self contradictory, therefore, God cannot do something that violates His own nature.

Could God be a perfect and unperfect at the same time? No of course not. Thats my point. God cannot do anything contrary to his existance.

No that doesn't makes us omnipotent because we can do absolutely nothing, without God. Our source of power doesn't come from ourselves.

Beloved, philosophy (critical reasoning/thinking) will add to your trouble. I used to ask such questions. It will not lead you to any good. Life is mysterious, you are part of creation and also very mysterious. The very deep thing are for God while the revealed truth (CHRIST,S WORD) is for man. We homosapiens shares the burden of curiousity and critical thinking since the knowledge of Good and Evil. Unless you assume the position of a child in the issue of faith in JESUS you may have the issues of life quite truamatising. PEACE. CHRIST (GOD) has the capacity to destroy both Soul , Flesh and creation since He made them. But GOD is not wicked to make life a turture chamber for His creature. God loves me(us). CHEERS

God cannot change His own divine nature so He cannot revert to an evil nature, and what you call wrong acts of God He calls His divine Justice.

Of course he can.

But if he never did, and God is good innately and thoroughly, then since God is in everything in the world, everything has God who is good within it...

Evil in the world is actually good inside.

So whose contradiction? Ours or infallible God's?

God cannot decide to be evil, it's the same thing as; Can God decide to be dumb? and He cannot.
