How can people believe in someone that they've never ever seen? And there is no valid proof that God even exists. How can someone seriously live in the clouds AKA Heaven? That's so dumb. There is no God, God can not hear you pray, God does not watch you, get over God!

Like this...I seriously choose to have faith in God. BTW...I have never seen you either and have no valid proof you exist as who or what you say you are.

Respectfully, please do not call me dumb and do not call what I believe in dumb and I will not preach at you, call you a sinner, or tell you that you are going to hell. It's a good deal, you should take it.

I've never ever seen George W. Bush. Yet I believe he exists. There is no valid proof that you exist, or that I do either. All I know is that there is thinking going on right now. I don't even know that there's something called "I" doing the thinking. God, if S/He exists, does not live in the clouds, nor does anyone over the age of five seriously believe that S/He does. The "clouds" or "sky" metaphor stands for a higher or spiritual state of consciousness, where a person can be conscious of a sense of purity, harmony and love to which they ascribe a "divine" Source, i.e. God. You can't prove there is no God, any more than I can prove there is a God.

I have never seen you. How do I know that maybe someone might have made you up?There is no proof that you aren't just a figment of someones imagination? How can you look at a new born baby and say there is no God? How can you look at nature and say there is no God? I would not call you dumb and it isn't very nice of you to come here and call us dumb. God does not live in the clouds! He is everywhere he is right here with us.It is a very hard question to explain to some ones who's mind is closed.May I ask you why it is so important to you to make us give up our faith? Do you even have an answer to that? You live your life the way you see fit and so will we. Peace be with you!

Just a note: interesting that in your question you say "that's so dumb" about believing in God, but then get defensive in your additional details and say "don't call me dumb just because my views are different." Looks like a little hypocrisy to me!

Anyway...how can you not believe in God? There are more reasons to believe then not. Using our ability to reason, we can reason, that God exists.

The universe for starters...came from where? It was created how? With what? There has to be a beginning right? There must have been a moment when there was nothing and then there was something...so what caused it? If something is in motion...such as our universe, earth, people...there has to be a cause...a mover. What is it? Such questions can only lead you to God.

You don't believe that someone you've never seen can exist?
Then you don't believe in any historical character ...because you never saw them.
You don't beleive George Bush exists, after all you've never seen him.
Living in the clouds, is not dumb.
Man is making serious efforts to live beyond the clouds.
He hopes to live in space, on the moon, maybe Mars.
It is easy to accept the idea of a Creator.
All you need is a slight grasp of the obvious.
With all due respect, think it through.

God exists. It is only that He isn't within YOUR realm of experience... you haven't had an experience with Him...
Why can we only believe in what is seen? With that logic, blind people cannot believe YOU exist. :-)
The wind is unseen, love is unseen, germs are unseen.. we see the effects of these things - just as we can see the effects of the existance of God.
"You will find Him when you seek Him with all your heart."
If you sincerely ask God to reveal Himself to you, He will.. ask Him for a sign- something you will understand... this is not offensive to God, the bible is full of people asking for a sign...
Heaven is not 'in the clouds' - it is another spiritual plain.
God does hear your prayers - He has answered many of mine, right there, on the spot...
An example - I had a really rough night. When I got up, I didn't see how I could go to work, but I had to... so, I prayed to God and asked Him to tell me what was best. Within 30 seconds, the phone rang, and my boss said not to come in. In the two years that I worked for him, this had never once happened, and didn't happen again. I can't prove to you that this story is true. But this happens to me all the time! I rely on God, acknowledge Him, trust in Him, and He blesses me for it. God, Himself has proven to me that He exists.

Because they don't believe in themselves. The church was created a long time ago as a way to gain power in society, namely the Catholic Church. Not many people had more power than a priest. Take a history of Europe class to find out all about it. I do not personally believe in a god as the current churches portray him. I was attending 3 churches at one time, have been confirmed in the church and couldn't stand the hypocracy of it all, the blatent wrong doings of other followers who use the excuse of "I'm not perfect" to do whatever they want against their god. I respect the church, they are a billion dollar industry and do many good things throughout our society. If you need to think that there is someone watching over you, protecting you, fine, go for it. I think most people are scared that there life has no purpose and believeing in god and going to church gives them that purpose and believeing in heaven is a way for them to not be scared of their own demise. I'm not sure why we think god looks over us especially, how many planets and galaxies are there? And not to mention how many cultures believe in how many different gods? I would rather believe in Science in facts I guess.

Consider this : An archaeologist digs deep into the desert sand and finds a piece of an old clay pot. After his investigations, this archaeologist can tell us, from this little old piece of dusty clay, so much about the civilisation that existed thousands of years ago that produced it; he can tell us about the types of ovens, temperatues, and dyes that they worked with, the raw materials that they used, and thus assess the level of their artistic skill and technological ability, etc. All this from a small piece of clay lying in the desert.
Did this archaeologist ever see the civilisation that produced this pot ?

How does he know that it ever existed ?

He knows because he saw that the piece of clay was produced by someone who designed it, and shaped it, and had the intelligence to be able to heat it and produce the pot, and not only that, they also had the ability to colour it and make it look beautiful.

Design ==> Designer.

To the archaeologist the existence and intricacy of the piece of pottery is conclusive proof of the existence, intelligence and ability of the people who made it.

Look around you: at the beautiful sunset on a summer evening, at the moon and the stars on a cloudless night, at the water that you drink, at the trees and how they grow from tiny seeds.

Think about yourself: your eyes with which you see, your ears with which you hear, your tongues with which you taste and talk, your hands and your feet, your heart and your brain.

Consider how these things are so complex in themselves and yet work together in such perfect harmony.

From the movement of the galaxies to the complexities of the interaction of molecules, from the dynamics of eco-systems to the intricacies of DNA, all lead to the obvious fact of the existence of the great Wisdom, Knowledge and Power that allows our Universe to exist and function.

To any perceptive person the existence and intricacy of creation is conclusive proof of the Existence, Knowledge and Wisdom of the One who creates, organises and sustains it.

Most people naturally recognise the existence of the Creator, and we find reference to the Creator in all cultures and religions. Even the atheists, communists and (disbelieving) scientists cannot avoid this reality, but avoid the term 'creator', for phrases like 'Mother Nature' and 'the amazing way nature has designed...'

How strange in the face of this, that many today reject the belief in the existence of the Creator. Perhaps this is due more to fashion and the desire to justify a materialistic attitude to life rather than real observation and comprehension of reality.

Something stranger still, and perhaps another reason for the trend to deny the Creator, are those who claim that a man, or men, who walked on the earth, breathed air, who had bodies and souls subject to the Laws of the Universe, are the Creator, or manifestations of the Self-Subsistent One.

This is of course a complete contradiction in terms. Something cannot be the Creator and created at the same time, needing air, food and drink and being self-sufficient, being temporary and eternal!

If you are one of those who believe that a man such as Buddha, or Krishna, or Jesus is the Creator and Controller, then think again.

We were created from a drop of despised fluid, in which was a microscopic sperm, which in turn fertilised a microscopic egg and we grew in our mother's womb in stages predetermined, over which we had no control. We came from our mother's womb, urinating and defecating, needing constant attention and care. Without food we will die, without air we will die ... and then such a one is God?

Indeed any intelligent person would recognise exactly how dependant life, the universe and everything is on its Creator. Our dire need for His help makes itself plain in times of great distress.

Imagine yourself in an aeroplane and you know it is going to crash...

Who do you turn to for help then ?

Or on a ship in the sea, thrown helplessly up and down by towering waves ...

There will have been a situation at one time or the other in your life when you called upon your Creator alone, forgetting everyone and everything else, hoping, trusting, wishing that the Being you know in your heart and soul that has power and control over all things would help you. The only One you know can save you!

Don`t call me dumb you say! and yet you called us dumb is this not just a little hypocritical?
There is more than enough proof in nature and the universe and that`s not counting our own uniqueness or the Bible, there are many things in this world that are not seen but believed.
