Wow, I don't think most of the Answerers understand the concept of "evidence". Using the Bible as evidence of God's existence is silly. It goes as follows:
How do you know God exists?
The Bible tells me so.
Who wrote the Bible?
Men God spoke to and told to write down his words.
How can we know God actually spoke to them?
God said so.
Where?
In the Bible. Duh.
The circular logic makes my head want to explode.

You are using circular reasoning because then I say"how do you know he doesn't? How do you know you're breathing air? I don't see it."
I Like the fact that the Bible is 66 different books written by 40 authors over a 2000 year period. Most of these guys didn't even know the others existed, yet they say the same thing about God and his nature and His plan for mankind.Try that with 10 people and you'll usually get 9 different answers.
As far as God's mercy,He gave humans 120 years to change their ways before the flood,he gave the Canaanites 450 years to stop their cannalbalisim, infant sacrificing and such before he set the Israelites on them.So don't say there is no mercy there, they refused it.
The fact that Jesus said Israel would be put out of the land (happened 70 AD) and other prophecies said they would return, and did 2000 years later is proof enough that God pulls the strings of history. They even made that desert "Bloom like a rose" to the point where they are #3 in orange crop sales behind California and Florida. Before they came back it was a strip of nothing.
To me that's enough "Evidence" along with many other things to take it by FAITH that God exists and does what he says.
So ,Paul can say,"It is by grace that you are saved through Faith and not of yourself,it is the gift of God."
And if it is all a big Cosmic Joke, then like everyone else we are just Worm Food.

There were over 500 witnesses to the ressurection of Jesus, that is more than enough proof that he has forgiven us. If it wasn't true 10 of the 12 disciples wouldn't have been martyered. Paul would have never gone from persecuting Christianity to preaching the gospel. When people encounter God, there lives are forever changed. If your trying to tell me you have to see something in order to believe it, then you really can't believe much of anything. Besides even the senses are very deceptive and sometimes not true. The bible is proof that the bible is true. The reason is because of the thousands of prophecies that have come true, or are in the process of coming true. There is even tons of scientific evidence that proves the bible could not be written by mankind. Futhermore God is the only possible way for creation.

Who are you to question the Lord? Don't you know you will be judged one day for this? If you ever expieenced the power of prayer or anything pertaining to Him you would not be asking these questions.I know that I have been forgiven of everything Ihave ever ask to be forgiven for and the word tells me. How do I know something written down is true, how do you know things You read are true?
When you have a relationship with the Father you know and until you do you will still be ignorant to His ways. Nobody can win when they try to argue the Bible or Jesus and if I were you I'd be careful about what that mouth gets you into.
If he wasn't merciful you wouldn't still be here after that kind of comment. I pray that you never have to expierence God's wrath.

Starting with the Bible...I ask you...why would it be made up? For what purpose? The Apostles died horrible deaths for their beliefs...why would they do that for something that was made up? Many Christians over the centuries have been persecuted, tortured, fed to lions for sport...and yet they would not renounce their beliefs. Why? I say that is proof. By using our ability to reason, we must say that for people to do those things, they must have been convinced...beyond a shadow of a doubt that what they believed was true.
The Saints sufferred as well, many with sicknesses, and many died martyrs and happy in the great peace of Christ. Again, I say this is proof.
We can use our ability to reason that there must be a God...what began it all? A big bang? Well that still requried matter of some kind. Where did that come from? What of the universe? In order to start things in motion there has to be a mover. There has to be a beginning...and the only reasonable answer leads us to God. Every other explanation does not satisfy us...as C.S. Lewis put it, "I felt in my bones that this universe does not explain itself."

Well if written proof, on stone, on paper, in books, are all falsehoods then you need tangible proof.
Kinetic tangible proof, see, hear, touch, taste. I submit the entire world on scientific proof on that, the infinite variety, natural selection, evolution. For effect, formulas that create stars of masses of gas, black holes out of sudden collapses of star systems, and everything on earth as evidence that there is a God. Stuff happens for a reason, your anger, frustration, confusion, and utter disrespect for anything humans can create or make or keep track of is fine, but not a basis for refuting the fact that creation is tangible proof of a deity. No matter how much we build, or control, or scream over stuff, we have very little power compared to the world around us, and the fact is we never will. So play your game of "why' your whole life, refute any claim you like, but tangible real proof is in front of you daily.

Do you have any doubt that the sun will set at evening? Do you have any doubt the sun will rise again tomorrow morning? Do you have any doubt that your lungs will keep working as well as your brain and your heart? Why do you have such faith in such things? Where is your proof that you will live another day? Where is your proof that another day will come as it always has? Where is your proof that the sun will keep moving across the sky?
Show me the proof, and I will show you the mercy of God.

Some day you will stand before Him and answer to all you have said and done. Do you really want to take that chance? I didnt that is why I am glad God came to me. I wanted to be sure that when I died I went to Heaven. After you receive the Holy Spirit its more than just going to Heaven. Its a more fulfilling life here on earth as well. I never realized what life was til I had Him living in my heart and controlling my life. No guessing game here. Either you are with Him and if you are you know it. If youre not you know it as well. Repent and be baptized. Its apparent you are interested in God or you wouldnt have put up this question. You know what you need to do. Like the slogan says Just Do It! Peace out...........

The entire bible talks of God's mercy. All mankind sins. The history of Israel tells of how God set apart a people to be his own when humans were doing such vile and detestable things, sacrificing to and worshipping demons instead of the God who created them. He shepherded them and protected them and even when they also started to worship foreign gods, He destroyed the evil from among them and allowed them to be sacrificially cleansed from sin. Sin stops us from ever being able to inherit God's kingdom which is pure and holy beyond our imagination. To enter with sin would make heaven just like earth. God has now allowed all of us the opportunity to inherit what we were created for and He sent His son to be the final and perfect sacrifice for sin, so that whoever believes in His Name can enter in. So many are still involved in detestable practises and demon worship but God is willing to forgive whoever repents. Now if that's not merciful, what is?

God the eternal Father is the Creator, Source, Sustainer, and Sovereign of all creation. He is just and holy, merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. The qualities and powers exhibited in the Son and the Holy Spirit are also revelations of the Father. (Gen. 1:1; Rev. 4:11; 1 Cor. 15:28; John 3:16; 1 John 4:8; 1 Tim. 1:17; Ex. 34:6, 7; John 14:9.)
He sent is only son to die so that we might have a redeemer to stand in our place in judgement. He gained nothing by saving us He did all that for us.

Your argument doesnt make sense. Your Q is making the philosophical assumption that God exists.
That would be like asking the Q, do you think me (matt D) is merciful? Youre already assuming I exist because youre asking something specific about me.
I think your Q should rather be "Where is your proof God exists?" And the answer is that it is not our job as believers to prove God to you, that is his function. Our function is to provide testimony and you get to decide on your own based on faith.
If you have faith, God will prove himself to you beyond a shadow of a doubt in your mind as he has for us.
