" Who sinned that this man be born blind, He, his father, his grandfather,Jesus replies none, this was done to glorify God"

So you're saying that people born with birth defects have them to glorify god? Thats sick.

I'm aware of that, Maestro. I asked her since she quoted it, I figure she must be familiar with it.

Well isn't that much nicer than crap happens and sometimes things just don't go well in womb?

So a baby is born with birth defects because of the sins of their forefathers. Lovely. And that glorifies god. Amazing.

Yes, God reserves the right to allow whoever He wants to be born whole or with defects. If God did not show any mercy all everyone on this planet would be born with some kind of defect, or abnormality. But because God's mercy intervene, some of us were born healthy and normal. Because the natural course of sin in this world brings imperfections in the flesh with it. That's why people are born with defects, because of sin that exists in the world. So, those who are criticizing God and have everything in tact should be thankful, not realizing you could have ended up the same way. However, God has appointed those with defects as season by which they can be made whole. The Lord has not forgotten them, they just have to come to Him to get it. So, even those with defects have the same opportunity as everyone else. I was born with crooked ankles and could not walk as a child and I needed specialized boots to walk. But the boots were so painful because of the pins I could not keep them on. Then my grandparents who were Christians came and prayed over my ankles and they were healed, immediately and I ran and played with the other children.

sounds cruel, but yeah, suffering is an integral part of Catholic belief. if Christ who had no sin whatsoever could suffer and die the cruelest of deaths for us who are sinners, isn't suffering for the sake of love and the forgiveness of sin the least we could do?

don't get me wrong, it's not like we're masochists who enjoy suffering. we don't suffer just for the sake of suffering, but for the sake of something bigger. that's why we fast and abstain during Holy Week, kneel when we pray the Rosary, etc.

we also do our best to alleviate the misery of others, but in cases where there's nothing else you can do, we offer it up to God and the forgiveness of sins.

hope i've helped.

He was born blind so that Jesus could cure him of his blindness, and therefore glorify God.

I hate to be an out of context dork, but . . .
