There are 2 1/4 cups in each pound of sugar, so there would be
112 1/2 cups of sugar in a 50 pound bag.

2 cups can't always equal 1 pound. Otherwise 2 cups of marshmallows would equal a pound, and so would 2 cups of lead weights. As far as sugar goes, it IS 2 1/4 cups per pound, so it is 112.5 cups in 50 pounds.
